***** Texas vs. Baylor Game Thread*****

Quick question guys. Do y'all think with Swoopes new found confidence that he can potentially be considered to start next season if we get Cumbie?
No--he's essentially a rb or redzone wildcat package.  He's not someone that can connect with intermediate and long routes with any consistency.  At this point, this is his mo.  If/when Texas gets a new OC, they need to begin working with a JC transfer or Shane, Heard, MM and Locksley and really develop fundamentals with reads, footwork, getting the ball out--whatever and really opening competition.  I don't think it's Swoopes and the best part is that he seems to like his new situational role.

Who does everyone think goes and stays on the staff? We have heard Cumbie and Hurtt, but surely there will be more changes than 2. So who?

Since I also predicted the win in Baylor predictions thread before the game:

NostraDMACus will do  ;)

Well, I appreciate that you'd follow through on your words, but really, a simple "you are a prognosticating god" will do just fine.

he he jk
Well...Since you seem to be working with magic dust. Please bring in an elite OC and deliver Clint Hurtt as well

Thank you sir!

Hell SHA picks us to win every week. He's bound to get it right every once in awhile 😃😃😃😃😃jk jk jk

LOL, well, I really can't argue that. LOL

I have no idea why I picked us to win this week. Just like I said when I picked us. There was nothing to say we would win. I just felt it.

That was pretty funny though. lol

For those of you who care, I think the last Big 12 game of the year is being played right now on FS1 I believe. West Virgina vs KSU. It's a pretty good game so far.

WV 20

KSU 17

3rd

i had things to do this morning/afternoon so i just finished watching the game.  a bit off my prediction of UT 45 baylor 23 but we were on target to get there at halftime 20-0.

some notes from the game.  why in the world do you play 3-3-5 against the wildcat and let them parade down the field over and over.  so extremely frustrating.  i know we are missing 2 of or LB starters but man that was horrible.

our D still had to go against an experienced baylor OL and skill position players save qb.

swoopes did a good job for playing injured.

i saw a lot of heart and effort.  i also saw some very poor execution and bad coaching decisions (3-3-5).

way to end the season with a W!!

Now that I've had an afternoon to cool off I'm willing to admit my glass was half empty earlier. I certainly appreciate the team was able to buckle down and get the win even if the second half was ugly because it didn't look like that was going to be the case about midway through the 3rd. I shouldn't poo poo a win since they're not coming as frequently as they used to. I want to believe this team is going to be great again and I really enjoy the youth on the field - I think they have enough talent to develop and put the program back on top.

But I am somewhat concerned in our coaching staff's ability to develop them. I can appreciate we have injuries. I can appreciate we are playing a lot of freshman. I understand that means we'll be sporadic and maddening at times. The problem is, we had the same issues last year. We can't execute consistently, we lack discipline on both sides of the ball, our offensive and defensive schemes aren't developing like they should. With all the youth it's understandable to have vanilla schemes early in the season. But by game 12, some development should be apparent and it's difficult to say without doubt that's the case. It's disconcerting.

The arguments have been too black and white here today. Saying Strong absolutely is building something is operating under blind faith when there's a lot to be concerned about. But saying he absolutely needs to go is ignoring the positives. It takes time. In the grand scheme of things what's another year to see if he can handle it?
