*****Texas vs. Notre Dame Game Thread*****

Strong says. . The reason they stayed with Tyrone is because they felt Tyrone could make the throws to get them back in the game

yeah pal. I'm not a kid I've been thru good and bad. I've seen fire and I've seen rain.

You act like this is DKR taking over for Ed Price who won 4,5 And ONE the previous 3 years. We won 8,9 and 8 pre-Charlie. Not great at all, but for the love of God, people need to quit acting like UT was Marshall after the plane went down.

I'm not saying it's done. I'm not calling for any firings. I'd like to have seen SOMETHING to make me feel good about tonight. ANYTHING. And I didn't.
I'm not sure where the hostility is coming from. I never called you a kid or insulted you in any form. You may not be calling for anything but multiple of the posters agreeing with you have. You can look at the records over the past few years of Mack's career all you like. But we both know those records aren't indicative of the product on the field. We beat weak teams and were beaten by good ones. People had been calling for Mack's job for years.

David Thomas says that Strong continues to say the same thing about the OL and the offense - when will be see a change?

V Young is worried that the kids might feed into what the Media is about to say about Texas

I'm not a big poster on here and im certainly not rah rah kind of guy, but I'm really not completely worried about this season. I've seen a lot of football over my 43 years (coached HS for some of that) and I understand the importance of experience.

With that said, I'm thoroughly disappointed in the D-Line over anything else. They looked slow, weak and confused. A lot of credit goes to the ND O-Line. The LBs looked ok, but out of position way too much (even Malik, but he played with heart). The secondary looked scared and it showed. As far as our O-Line is concerned, this was the absolute worse Defense they could've faced with two freshman starting. It's a complicated defense with as many stunts as any NFL team. Very confusing and gets you moving the wrong way at a high rate of speed for the freshman. Swooped is not a D1 QB. I was pulling for him, but it's his decision making under pressure and I don't think he has that process. No doubt he can make the throws, but so could G. Gilbert and he also lacked that mental aspect. I'm not sure about Heard yet, but he is a winner and proved he could move the ball on a limited basis tonight.

My prediction is Texas beats Rice, wins a close one against Cal, and beats Ok St. Heard takes over the QB position either during the Rice game or Cal and this team finishes with 7 wins and goes to a bowl. It's exactly what I thought before tonight and it's what I think still happens. I honestly thought we would lose 31-10 tonight and braced my son for that fact. Just my thoughts.

Some good analysis here. Hope you'll do the same for the rest of the games this year.

We need to go with Heard against Rice so that he can begin to learn the entire playbook.

Getting him started off with Rice is the right call. Give him a chance to learn and warm up before facing Cal. It's important we don't overlook Rice.

I like Swoopes. I think he's a great kid who had a dream of playing in DKR like all of us did. But like most of us, he's simply not talented enough to do it. I hope he finds nothing but success in life. But I don't think he should be under center going forward.
