*****Texas vs. Notre Dame Game Thread*****

Shawn Watson makes Greg Davis look like the second coming of Don Coryell.

I can't believe I'm really saying that about Greg Davis.

I guess it just proves, everything's relative.

And... it reveals the frustration one can have, when expectations far exceed results.

Does that fly?

No, it shouldn't.

That quote is reminiscent of Mack's line about "pouting for a year after the Bama loss". Get over it. You're the HC, Charlie, and a well-compensated one. You should be actively engaged in overseeing the game plan and adjustments for all 3 facets; Defense, Offense, and Special Teams.

Has UT beaten a team it hasn't physically overmatched under CFS yet? I'm with Duke on this - at some point, you've gotta find a way to overcome challenges, improvise, and get it done. Excuses are weak.

I'm not seeing that resilience or improvisational flexibility in this coaching staff. You can bust me if I'm wrong.

My game plan is : Jerrod Heard's legs.
My game plan:

  1. Demote Watson
  2. Promote Norvel , or Traylor to OC duties

Didn't Traylor demonstrate offensive creativity with zone read, up tempo as head coach at Gilmer?

Hell, I vividly remember the first high school football game I went to when I moved to the Lake Travis area.

The other team had just scored with about 40-45 seconds to go in the first half.

I (ignorantly looking back) expected Lake Travis to take the kickoff and run out the clock.

Lake Travis proceeded to run and throw its way down the field to score another touchdown with about 10 seconds to go in the half.

I was shocked.

Obviously, I knew nothing of Chad Morris… and what he was capable of.

Just saying'… you never know what someone's capable of, until you give them a chance.

Lots of top current D1 coaches were once Texas HS head coaches.

Can't be any worse than what we witnessed last night…

I believe part of the problem with this is that Wickline is CO-OC.  The whole lawsuit was based on him taking a lateral move to Texas.  Watson hasnt proven he is capable at all.  I agree someone else needs to take the reigns.  Watson's last 3 games are just an embarrassment.

Until his passing improves, his legs are like injury magnets. The fact that UT's coaches think Swoopes is clearly the better passer speaks volumes about the offensive struggles.
I think the fact that our coaches think this - speaks volumes about our coaches.

Charlie Strong's conservative approach to the game of football as a HC will not work in this conference.  Take Gary Patterson for example. Ran the most conservative offense in the Big 12 for two years, realized he wasn't going to win games that way and hired two air raid guys. Now they are probably going to be in the playoff this year.

If Tom Herman does well at Houston, He will be your next HC at the University of Texas before long..
