2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

A REAL possibility.  Why do I suspect that Lodge is just following his bud to Austin, while Murray checks out our baseball program?

Daylon Mack following Bedford is a non-issue.  He follows lots of people.

Who on here really believes that Murray, a dedicated aggy legacy, will come to UT?

LOL!  I'm sorry to be such a wet blanket, but, c'mon folks.

At 5'9' 170, perhaps he and his dad (and Calvin too) realize that baseball is his true path forward?

If so, and you want to play in college, who better than Augie to be mentored by?

Hamilton confirmed that they have been talking.

And, if this is it, that it really is more about baseball than football, then it is still good because -- he will bring Lodge along and he even may land us Mack, Lampkin and who knows else.  Plus, the aggy meltdown will be epic.

The one issue we would have to be very careful with is managing the expectations and our relationships with our other QBs -- Heard, Gentry + possibly Lodge

Unfortunately, Doc's probably right.

Sometimes being a wet blanket means that you're just being realistic.

Speaking of that^^ Coach Strong has his in-home visit with QB Zach Gentry tomorrow night.

Also a rumor that Mack was on campus today too

Dunno if true

Prolly not

I report, you decide

I wrote this \/ earlier, trying to gauge what might happen with Davante Davis by looking at the Auburn CB situation.

One of the key factors was #1 JUCO CB Justin Martin

Martin has now canceled his trip to Auburn

Bagman running dry I guess

In any event, this might move Davis up a notch on their wishlist

Looking at Davante Davis from the Auburn perspective --

At the moment, Auburn has 2 safeties committed and 1 ATH who could be a DB. They do not have any specific CBs committed. We think they want 2 CB's and are in hot pursuit of 8 CBs total.  They had two CBs visit last week (Davis and Redwine) and have 2 more this coming weekend (Justin Martin and Jeremiah Dinson).

Here is Auburn 247 latest take on 5 of the 8 CBs they are chasing --

Jeremiah Dinson -- offered by Auburn last week and will visit Jan. 23.   Florida also ...  in the picture. How heavily the Tigers pursue could determine the outcome.  Auburn was expected to visit him Tuesday.

Javarius Davis -- visited Auburn over the weekend, and he is extremely close with Tigers cornerbacks coach Travaris Robinson ....  We believe Davis is now a strong Auburn lean

Sheldrick Redwine -- visited Auburn last weekend, and is believed to be high on the Tigers’ board.  He will official with the Cards this weekend, and Texas the next.  A final decision will come a day or two after the latter, he said.  Auburn has made a significant move with Redwine in the past week, and may be close to even with Louisville.

Justin Martin -- 4-star Vols commit expected to visit the Tigers this weekend.  Because Martin has junior college experience, he could be more ready to play early than a high school recruit — and Auburn certainly needs immediate help at corner in 2015.

Davante Davis -- Texas commit is close with Auburn safety commit Tim Irvin and has a prior relationship with Robinson.  Davis expected to visit Auburn on Jan. 30.

Javarius Davis has the best odds of joining the class, followed by Dinson and Redwine.   Martin is a wild-card.

Conclusion - IF Auburn247 has it correct, then it appears Davante Davis is more of a backup plan for them.  IF some of these other guys commit early, then they might even be full at CB before he ever visits them.  The worst scenario from our perspective would be if they land both Davis and Redwine.  The best is if they fill up now without either.

if he's such a dedicated aggy legacy what's he doing in Austin effing Texas?

Edit

Maybe I misread your post.

I was trying to say that I think this is a business decision for Kyler.  As a two sport star, it's obvious that Texas is a much better choice for him.  Our baseball program has Omaha written all over it for the next few years.

stp, why would a great baseball player go to College Station? If you think it's to enjoy the culture, you should reconsider. I remember when Aggies went to Austin just to look for a date. I realize the situation has improved, but for Kyler, this is a business decision, and I don't think that it is more complex than that.

It is important that Kyler look toward his future. As fans, we have the luxury of ignoring that.
huh?
