Some Ketch --
This is an incredibly trick recruitment because Murray's dad is only the greatest Texas A&M quarterback who ever lived (outside of that Johnny guy) and it goes without saying that his son showing an ounce of interest in Charlie Strong's program after he had already committed to A&M would potentially create some tricky conversations for the entire family. Seriously, imagine if Major Applewhite had a son and the same thing happened. So this thing is tricky, then, now and in the future. It's not like the family has any issues with the school or the program at all.
The issue would appear to be that perhaps Charlie Strong's ideology as a man and coach connected better than perhaps the alternative.
If you're wondering how serious this is, understand that this visit never becomes known if it isn't serious. The Murray family is not trying to make life more difficult for everyone in the family for a few retweets and new followers.
It's a huge deal. Kyler Murray is your starting quarterback in South Bend if he signs with Texas. I have no doubts about that at all. In my mind, he's the future of Charlie Strong's program if Strong can convince the kid to pull the string on a commitment to Texas. Part of that has to do with UT's limited options, part of that has to do with the fact that the kid is really freaking good and part of that has to do with the fact that he would be Charlie's guy. Charlie didn't recruit Tyrone Swoopes and Jerrod Heard
A commitment from Murray to Texas would represent the single biggest recruiting moment to take place in this state since… hell, I'm not sure. The elements of this story are bigger than the factors that made the recruitments of Adrian Peterson or Vince Young. I'd probably go all the way back to 1997 with Tyler John Tyler defensive end David Warren (No.1 player in the nation), who committed late to FSU, despite being related to Earl Campbell. Like I said it's b-i-g.
