2015 Recruiting Season is in full swing

5 star DT, former LSU commit, Edwin Alexander wants to visit Texas. My goodness I wish we had more room. FYI he's the number 10 overall player in the country per 247.

That's per Rivals.

Alexander is pretty impressive.  I remember looking at him way back in time.  I probably thought something like, "What do we have to do to get a shot at guys like this?"  That question is close to being answered.

Alexander approaching us is also consistent with this from a couple days ago ....

Higdon --  "One person is safe but that is it. I have never watched so many things go on behind the scenes as they are right now. So many kids are wanting to jump on board it's actually hard to imagine......

The OV's will be interesting to say the least. The sooner you can get on campus and speak to Charlie Strong behind closed doors the better. Kids are trying to jump on board over the phone and that is not how things work with Texas."

I look at Higdon alittle different than you guys.  I think he has been pretty spot this class on, more accurate than anyone else.  I also believe he is connected going back to their Florida days.  There is a relationship there, with some level of trust established.  So, I see him as something of a mouthpiece for Strong and company.  In other words, when Higdon says something, there is always going to be a chance that it is a specially tailored something Strong et al. want out there.  This is in contrast to someone like Burton who still seems to be angry over losing his Belmont connections.

In any event, neither this^ nor any of it really matter.  It just gives us something to talk about while waiting.
I agree with this. I think Higdon clearly has the best connections to the staff now.

Burton seems to have lost all his Bellmont connections, I think he knows little of what's going on to be honest. The guys over here, at OB and Scout seem to have more inside scoop to be honest. I've been a big fan of 247 when it comes to their recruiting rankings, but I haven't really been impressed recently with Burton and Howe. The way they ran with that Taylor Hamm piece on Malik Jefferson really made me question their reporting. Maybe it's just me but Burton seems to be pretty butthurt that he lost all his connections.

Higdon is still saying something big is going down, "As many of you know, I have eluded to something big in the works for some time now. It is going to happen, I can promise you that and this could be the only time you ever see me promise anything with regards to anything recruiting related because I just don't do that. That is how strongly I feel about this situation."
In the words of  The Dude:

I've got some information man…

Big Lebowski and Shawshank Redemption gifs. I can get on board with this.

Not to derail the recruiting thread, but IMO this is one of the best movie scenes of all time.

The Shawshank Redemption is in my top 5 of greatest movies ever. Love that scene you posted above!

Edit Note: The young picture of Red on that form is in fact Morgan Freeman's son.

Burt de-committing or at least that rumor has not only gotten the attention of Jefferson but also has Carlos Strickland attempting to set up his OV now.  Wheeler (his hs teammate) is supposed to be working on him.  Wheeler never took his OV so they may visit the same weekend.

Here is something very interesting from another WR in play -- Van Jefferson (6-2, 183)  #3 ranked player overall in Tennessee  http://247sports.com/Player/Van-Jefferson-33068

He was at the USAAA in San Antonio.  Has been talking to Coach Vaughn and wants to take an OV, but nothing set yet. Says "Kris Boyd is one of my good friends and he has been telling me a lot about Texas.†per 247

Jefferson Film - exciting player

Malcom Brown now official

Paging Mr. Mack

Paging Mr. Alexander

I bet he is thinking something will happen over one or more of the next four weekends or on NSD.   ;)

Somebody over at 247 posted that Soso Jamabo has set an OV for Texas but hasn't announced the date to the public yet. Has anyone else seen that posted anywhere else?

That would be very interesting if true. He fits the "unexpected" and "big something" that Higdon keeps talking about. He is very good friends with Merrick.

Sooooo, perhaps we are not as so on Soso as so many say?

Does anyone else think that is interesting?  I know the majority of us have thought Boyd to Texas was going to happen, but I still find it interesting that he is recruiting for the good guys.  Maybe he was telling him about Texas as a state.

yes.  Higdon has said that everyone left on the Texas board has scheduled their OV's with Texas.  Many of them simply haven't announced it publicly yet.

Let us finish up this class in style with a BANG...#Letsride

Disagree.  A Soso visit is not unexpected, at least from what I've been reading. If this is Higdon's big and unexpected news then he is promising more than he's delivering.
