Wrong again. They beat Ole Miss and LSU - shut them out. That's fact, not conjecture. Check the 2014 record books.

When the announcement was made where the SEC had selected Arkansas as our opponent - what was the first thing I said? Bad match up for us. They were a team that became very good late in the season. It happens. That is fact, not conjecture.

Lost by 7 to the SEC East champs

One could argue their resume was more impressive than our own.

Thank god! AGREED! A voice of reason... Arky is not a good team or program for that matter. They just won their first SEC game in almost 3 years, this year. THEY ARE A 6-6 TEAM! We should have lost to TCU, they were a much better team. But Arky?! With ANYBODY else at QB(hyperbole) we would have hung in that game. They had one decent win beating a spiraling Ole Miss team! The rest of their wins are all to joke teams and a LSU team that is not very good. They had some close losses as well, and while I know there is usually way more to a game than the final score, they still lost 6 games! Arky has some very good elements to their team(RB's, good Oline, 3 standout defenders) but they are by no means a power and it seems a bit premature to grant them that type of hype after a 7-6 season where they just won their first conference game in nearly 3 years. We left our D on the field for 41+ mins... That has a huge part to do with the final score. The other huge factor, Swoopes. I am not trying to talk us up, we are bad right now. But as ridiculous as it is to talk us up right now, its just as ridiculous to talk up a 7-6 Arky team. Ahahaha... Citing the fact they beat the SEC east champ also has to be a joke. The Hoosiers also beat them. Arky is a Texas Tech type of team for the SEC... Meaning, they are good enough to destroy your season on any Saturday but not good enough to actually make a serious run. Better than their record, maybe. But they lost to Aggy by giving up a 2 TD lead with less than 5 mins left. Are they good, yeah. A national force, nah. IMO.

You said it yourself... Looking outside the box score tells the full story... One of those 2 wins vs TOP 20 teams was to Ole Miss, a team that lost 3 of 4 in that 4 week period with a beat down of a Jr High school in between. Ole Miss WAS NOT the same team they were to begin the season. Annnd they beat a below average LSU team that was actually ranked 17 when they played, not in the top ten. Those are legit observations that I see as truths that are not displayed in the box scores. IMO... Shutouts vs power 5 schools are impressive no matter what, IMO. Some more than others.

Also, I think(and this is purely my opinion) you can call a team "better than their record" if they have 2, 3 or maybe 4 losses... But 6 losses? You earned that record. Didnt get blown out but def not good enough to win vs beatable teams.

not sure what you're arguing about. i never denied they won two conference games out of eight played. two.  good for them. was their resume so impressive that they should have held us to 31 total yards mid 4th quarter? i guess we see it differently. we made a 6-6, 2-6 team look like the 85 bears. if that's me making the situation seem worse, so be it. seems like the situation is pretty bad regardless of what you or i think.

But the bottom line is that you are what your record says and Arkansas is 7-6, no more no less.

Teams are only as good as their overall W/L record and cannot improve or decline in the course of a season.  Quality of opponent doesn't count and how you compete against your opponenets doesn't count either.  Strict W/L.  Marshall should be pissed that they aren't in the playoff.

Arkansas beat the shit out of us because they are good and we suck.  We suck because we have thin air for an OL and because Mack Brown started recruiting based on what Rivals told him rather than evaluating personnel, hence Tyrone Swoopes as your starting QB.

It's all about the money, not giving more kids "the reward of a bowl experience". 6-6 shouldn't qualify for any post-season reward. I concur

Interesting entry by JS this evening. Appears there is some friction going on between Wick and Watson over the failure to give Heard meaningful snaps in the bowl practices. Heard was apparently running the scout team with walk-ons (as he has most of the season) while the walk on got second team reps. Cigar says no wonder Heard looks bad, anyone would look bad playing first team D with walk-ons.

I won't go any further, but a very interesting humidor. cigar says we have two silent commits now.

Just to be clear did Wickline want more meaningful snaps for Heard and Watson didn't because that's what it sounds like.

I agree with you and BC - I personally have never liked any program qualifying for a bowl game with 6 wins, but it is all about $$$ for the networks.....
