Your stats show two things. One, the top defense does not win the championship (i.e., basketball is not football).
And two, you must have an offense to win. Which has been the Bulls problem. As I showed above, the weakness of the Bulls is somewhat disguised playing in the weak Eastern Conference. if they were in the West, their record would be below .500 and they would be in the lottery the last 2 years. The Bulls, of course, know well what their issue is which is why they went so hard after Melo's scoring. They certainly were not after him for defense.
Perhaps you did not notice but Houston had a better record in the majority of the years you reference (3 of 5) -- while playing in the better conference with the tougher schedule. (ps - One more stat -- Rox also swept the Spurs last season)
Yes, defense and turnovers are the Rockets undoing. And perhaps the head coach? Both teams have pretty glaring weaknesses and are somewhat the inverse of each other in this regard.
The point you are missing, however, is that not only are the Rockets, like the Bulls, trying to win another championship, unlike the Bulls, the Rockets are trying to change the way basketball is played. They are innovators in the areas of pace and usage of the 3-point shot. This is not just in the league but even at the D-league level (see the amazing Pace and 3P shooting of the RG Vipers - they broke all records). Teams have already begun to copy them. If we win a championship, even more teams will follow. Some college coaches have figured out some of the same things already too. Further, some of this theory is also even showing up in the Chinese League. More to come as the disciples of Daryl Morey spread throughout the NBA (ex, see what Sam Henkie is doing in Philly = its pretty crazy). Mark Cuban noticed and hired the Rockets' Gersan Rosas to be his GM (he is since back in Houston).
All of this has far-reaching implications in terms of positions (ex, the size/athleticism of Cs and Forwards), offenses (ex, small ball), scouting, player value, salary cap management and basketball-analytics. And, of course, the resultant defensive adjustments will begin their own trend.
So, there is a lot going on here. But, generally, I love it. I love it because it will rid of us boring, walk-it-up, defense-heavy, Pat-Riley-1994-style of play, which is the least entertaining way to play pro ball ever invented. Want to waste the talents of the world's best athletes? Play that way. Want to bore fans to death? Play that style. Want to see your ratings decline? By all means, ape Pat Riley Ball. If not, then make playing and watching it fun and entertaining.

It is very tricky as the Apron is upon us. And the apron brings unwanted complications.
It depends on the details, but, as I understand it of this moment -- we get to keep Pat Beverly and Terrance Jones but the entire rest of the bench will have to be college rookie salary guys. The minimum vet contract amount will be too much. However, I am hoping that we may be able to use one of the MLEs Part of this depends on whether Bosh gets the full max, or slightly less -- right now, it looks like the latter. Even though its only a ~$1M difference, that small difference does matter.
They tell us that, while each team has its own cap expert, there are 5 human beings on the planet who can tell you the salary cap situation of every team in the league. One of them is in the league office, and we have one of the other ones.
The newest CBA was supposed to prevent a team from taking on 4 max deals. Well, we are about to do just that.
I have heard that Mark Cuban is already complaining to the league office, trying to get them to issue some rules about how the cap may or may not be used.

Was trying to get you to admit this for the longest time. You are very stubborn as am I.I love watching Bulls basketball. I don't find it boring at all, to each their own. Come playoffs, defenses rise to win games. Regular season, shoot-outs.

Only way I will ever root for the Rockets is if KD35 wears the red and gold. Hell, what are the Rockets colors anyways?
Rockets will be the Rockets, so will my 2nd favorite team, the Warriors.

That would have been only stating the obvious. The turnovers in particular are deadening.
Saying good-bye to Lin will help. I still like him and hope he has a long career. But sloppy turnovers drive me nuts. he was not the only one, but he was the worst one at that. And leaving his feet without knowing where he was going with the ball. Geez. High school coaches are supposed to get that out of your system. But he kept doing it over and over.
On the defense, it is a little different. With the Rockets pace and scoring, the other team is naturally going to have the ball more often than a normal game. So, for example, the Bulls great PPG defense may not look quite as great when adjusted for pace, and they play at a slow pace. So, to me, the best way to compare is point differential -- this naturally adjusts for pace and the more/less possessions by your opponent -- something simple PPG defensive averages do not.
Lastly, dont worry about disagreeing. What fun would sports discussions be if everyone agreed?

Fully expecting Houston to match on Chandler Parsons, Dallas moving ahead with plan B: Luol Deng or Trevor Ariza, league sources say.
Cuban obtained one goal at least, which was screwing us to the wall with the Parsons max deal. Now, we will be weaker on the bench bc of it. Same division makes for strange frenemies.

I root for OKC, so I can definitely root for the Rockets if KD35 chooses Houston.
Don't worry, I hate ALL OHIO teams more than Houston.
Houston vs Cleveland in finals.....I will root for Houston.
The Rockets fan board has been inundated with what we call LOFs (Lin Only Fans) since he signed.
They are very unreasonable.
And defensive.
They never really cared about the Rockets. Only Jeremy.
Whenever anyone says anything about Lin, they reply in force.
And, by force, I mean by the 1,000s not the 10s.
I am glad this crazy situation is over.
