During your athletic exploits, what were your jersey numbers and why?

Basketball: 42 - Obviously wanted 23 because of MJ, but decided not to conform and chose a different number.  Thus I chose 42 for Vin Baker.  Sounds crazy, but true.  LOL

Intramural football: 8 - Steve Young

Softball: 25 - Barry Bonds

Football:  #87 is year I graduated high school and one of my favorite all-time TEs, Dave Casper

Basketball: #34 because Hakeem Olajuwon was my favorite college hoops player

Baseball: #23 because it was one of the largest jerseys and the pickings were slim

Church league, old man softball: #00 to rep my deteriorating skills and playing style & intensity

I wanted 35 because Frank Thomas was my favorite baseball player as a kid, but another punk stole it from me so I settled for 24.

I was a QB and wore #7. I was a fan of Dan Pastorini. Yes, I'm that old.

In baseball, I was #41. It's just the number they gave me.

Football I was #20 due to my favorite running back Barry Sanders (I was an RB). Basketball it was #5 due to my favorite injury riddled, could've been greater player, Baron Davis.

Austin High School:

25 football (I was a QB and hated the number until I learned that Mike Cotten wore 25 at AHS), 12 basketball, 6 baseball

UT

23 home jersey (UT retired my number. a mere coincidence, I am certain, is that Brooks Kieschnick also wore 23) 8 road jersey

Coaching baseball:

6 because I considered it to be my lucky number

the only number I chose was my coaching number. the others were assigned by my coaches.

I'm trying to think who you are.  I played with Mike Cotton and Bobby Nunis, at AHS - both who played at UT (did you know Nunis has passed away?).  Was Jim Tolbert your coach?  Was Wallace Dockall still the basketball coach?  Did Dockall still teach chemistry?

(He was instrumental in helping me decide to enter the medical profession, by-the-way)

Baseball #4 - because I played middle infield and prefered playing 2nd base

Football #6 - because it was one of the smaller jerseys, the starting QB wanted #4, so I went with #6

34 in high school Football because of Rickey

36 in college because I was 6'0 240 Lbs and reminded my coach of the "Bus" when I ran people over, 34 wasn't an option sadly.
