Johnny Mack had faults as a HC…like no defense, but he was brilliant offensive coach.  And, one of the greatest and gutsy play calls of all times.  A big-boy, brass-balls call.  I still remember watching this game with my father…sitting on the edge of the couch about to die of anxiety and then the “playâ€.  I immediately leaped up and was screaming and jumping around in my parents’ living room. After the game, headed over to pick up Mirian (Girlfriend, now Wife) for dinner and played The Eyes of Texas and Texas Fight continuously on the drive to her house.  I was singing and bouncing around as I drove.  Folks passing me on Loop 410, probably thought I was spaced out on drugs…

I was listening on the radio with one of my best friends, who's an aggy grad. Wish I could've seen it live, but still a great memory none the less. Hook 'em!

I attribute Roll Left and the excitement of the game for causing my daughter to be born 4 weeks early. The ex-wife was extremely excited, probably jumping up and down a little too much at that stage and her water broke a few hours later...  We always thanked John Mackovic for our unexpected little bundle of tax deduction that year.  :)

LHN replayed this game last night. Awesome. And there were some hitters on that defense. I can't believe we were a 21pt dog in that game.
