Woke up and Still can't buy Mack's coming back.

Espn saying mack refuting he's fighting for job and says slow down. Said he would make best decision for his future. There is just no logical scenario where I can picture mack back next year. I just can't buy he would want to go through that. Even at the banquet he and Sally looked less than happy. The vitriol towards mack if he came back would be unlike anything seen at Texas. He would face a burning fire week after week and he first loss would start all this over again but times 10 of this year. This needs to end soon. Reading this morning BMD are pissed and powers is going to face a hell storm if he's gone back on certain things.

I don't think that Mack is going to be back. Part of that is an outright refusal to do so. But there's no way that Mack is going to allow himself the pains of coaching next year. If UCLA were to beat us in Dallas next year early in the season can you imagine how bad the rest of the season would be? How about when he loses his first couple of Big 12 games? We have Baylor and OU back to back weeks. With Mack coaching there could be a strong chance of losing both of those games. If we had 2-3 losses following the OU game the negativity on Mack would be unbearable. No way he would want to deal with that.

The banquet had a definite thanks mack feel. Why so if he's staying? The speech before mack was one you hear if he's leaving. He apparently stayed like 45 mins after it was over and servers were cleaning off tables and breaking things down. Dunno if he was taking things in what.

This is going to be bloody for powers too if he's basically thumbed his nose at people who kept him in office. Read last night people like bob Rowling and his political clout helped prop him up to keep things united so they could fix athletics. If powers gave a big F@#K you to that level of people I have to think some heated stuff will be going down this weekend. Esp if the leaks about mack fighting came from the powers side and it killed saban. Those guys involved are going to be livid

Reading as of last night mack had not told coaches the team or recruits be was coming back. If that was settled why would you not say anything?

His quote to espn tells me this is very much up in the air and not set he's coming back

Have not read much this morning... but has Saban signed? Could this be a controlled leak from Camp Saban to tighten the screws. What if Saban is pissed right now because he told someone he "liked" the offer from Bama and they ran to ESPN with it so everyone would think "Saban to Texas" was officially dead.

Am I crazy for thinking that Saban is not off the table just yet?

The insiders have def not all been on the mark but utx is prob the last person I would pay attention too. His connections left when mcwhorter was fired.

The ineptitude of the university and yes, BMD's, is at a staggering level through this entire process. I think it is quite evident why the athletic department as a whole has struggled over the last couple of years. The blind loyalty through donations should take a significant hit; however, reading articles on Mack Brown over the last week leads me to believe that he is actually Pope John Paul II. I have never been ashamed to support UT, but this is taking it to the brink.
