Wickline To Call Plays

I'm pretty sure the guy has never called plays before.

I'll reserve judgement, but I'm concerned. Play calling is a bit of an art, not everyone can do it well.

Re: Pokes -- I asked a coach about Yurcich during fall. "Doesn't matter," he said. "Wickline's the one calling plays."

And that would make perfect sense. No matter who OSU had at OC, their offense performed the same. No changes. The 2 mainstays were Gundy and Wickline.

This is going to need to be repeated a lot over the next few days/weeks/months.

No, he has called plays before, but not since the Reagan administration. Honestly. At Delta State.
Any idea whether he was good at it?

I can't say that I'm very familiar with how Delta state fared in the 80s...

No one asked him to do much more of it for the next quarter of a century. Does that answer your question?

Who knows, maybe Wickline was the brains behind Gundy's gameplan. He might have been calling the plays and everyone only thought "the man" was responsible.

I am ready to see how we do and our guys respond. I think it will be a good mix for the players that we have on the team to be honest.

We have top shelf running backs and I think this will be the strength.

We have a mix of young stud receivers and Shipley in as "old" reliable. I think this could be a potent mix "IF"

Ash comes back and gets ready and/or Swoopes/Heard are ready to go.

The reason I am confident in those is because...

A: Our OL actually looked decent, if not great by the end of last year.

B: Wickline now gets to take these guys to the next level

Now obviously I am betting that Wickline will be able to handle the OC position and mix in well with Watson and the others. I could be way off on that assumption.

Yeah, you could say I am pretty excited to see a truly different team next year.
