should get the support from the fanbase until they have a chance to at least put out some results to judge them by. Mack Brown is gone. This is a new era in Texas football. people were underwelmed when Mack was hired and for a good while he was pretty damn good. Was time for him to go but he will eventually be remembered as the second best coach in UT history

I've seen people already down on Patterson when the hire isn't even known yet, and already calling certain coaches big failures at UT when that's impossible to know before they even get here and put out some results

UT needs a good football coach that is sound in fundamentals, can recruit a big time staff around them, and make people want to come to Texas again by having success on the field. No matter what their name is

Amen. I think the big names would rally the fan base easier, however, a strong coming out party over the next couple seasons would get everyone on board. I'm still in the Saban or Fisher camp but support whoever we bring in. Hook'em

I agree. It's unfortunate to see the massive amount of visceral and disdain being thrown out at certain candidates. I haven't heard of a possible hire yet that I wouldn't consider to be a good coach. Some are certainly better than others but any and all are deserving of our respect and support should they be named coach. The Horns come first folks.

Their will not be a consensus among the fan base. People will whine no matter what the outcome. The Texas fan base was whining when the horns were going to National Championship games.

Im just saying it would be fair to let someone prove themselves...or not

At this point I will be disappointed in everyone! Hope they announce soon. All this reading on who is the best fit is making my head spin.

If Texas is the best job in the country with all the money, resources, recruiting base, great place to live etc...then we shouldn't be hearing some of the names as serious candidates. If it's Strong or Franklin then all the above is not the case. Those two guys would leave their current gig for about 40 other ones, they are winning the lottery and Texas either can't do better or is taking a foolish risk. I will support whoever the coach is, I supported Mack, but I'm not going to pretend that I won't be disappointed if it's not someone with a recent track record at a big time football program.
