Who Makes This Hire

If this takes 3-4 weeks we are Screwed!!!
Not really, it may affect a recruit or two, but if they focus on an NFL guy it may take that long. In the big picture. 3 or 4 wks is ok

Also some of the guys we may want have bowl games in the next several weeks, doubt if we get our first choice until after the bowl games

If Mack was able to greatly influence the Saban deal, what level of influence might he have on his successor?
Kindof why I'm hoping, for the good of the program, that Oregon mudholes us. I want to send Mack out with his tail between his legs.

from Chips post tonight kinda sounds like Patterson is going to be running the show and Powers will just be in the loop. Makes sense as he's not an athletics guy and Patterson has tons of experience hiring coaches

in fact Chip mentioned he was told there may not even be a search committee

Bert, I would think the whole point of a committee like this would be to fence Mack out of the decision making process. Mack's ability to manipulate people and situations is a function of his personal relationships with those individuals. A committee would be immune to that non-sense, especially a committee stacked with people absolutely pissed at him for double crossing them.
Mack would not be involved, Powers would not be involved other than superficially, and Patterson would be the executive agent for the committee and point man for all direct contact and negotiations.
I sure hope you're right

^^^ That's it in a nutshell.

I personally want Patterson to own the hire. He talked his way in to the job by doing a great interview over Luck. Now it is time right off the bat to see his first of body at work @ The University of Texas with this Coaching hire. The thing that pisses me off is that Mack said Powers and Patterson told him that he could keep on Coaching and that it was his call when to retire @ the meeting Friday. I think Patterson might have been a great hire, but the jury has just entered the jury room from my vantage point. We shall see.
