I like Red running the wildcat. When you get down to it, Red simply does not go down until he has the yardage needed....Everytime!The only time his run did not work was because it was called back due to penalty.

I don't think there's a real question at this point. Unless Maalik is hurt, he's starting. He's going to have a better grasp of the offense and likely has a bigger playbook than Arch. I don't think it's wise or fair to throw Arch in there. Plain and simply, you're not setting him up for success by doing that. I have no problem, however, mixing him in for a drive here and there to get him some live action reps. I think that move is absolutely necessary since Quinn will likely be out most, if not all, of the remainder of the season. I also anticipate seeing more of the Red Cat, especially since Maalik is not a mobile QB.

Yep, one thing definitely working against Murphy is a lack of mobility.

Posted in the other thread but the video of his spring game throws has a scramble at the end.

He is definitely not slow, seems to have good pocket mobility and on the scramble appears fast enough to beat a DL to the edge if needed and beat a LB if Maalik has the angle.

Sark doesn't design much QB run and probably won't want his backup QB taking many hits either. Maalik is just so big, I could see him run a few times on short yardage plays.

Malik has a lot of talent. He’s big and can run the ball or throw a bomb.
I’m hoping to see some designed runs for him. I think we will be happy with the results.

He has earned the right to start and he deserves a chance.

The defense has to be fixed. That secondary is the biggest weakness of the team by far.
PK needs to figure it out. Two games in a row his defense has been shredded.
Sark is taking a lot of heat, but the team is scoring, what we are not doing is playing good defense

With QE hurt, Maalik will not run unless he has to. He will slide as soon as a defender gets close. There is no way we put him in a position to get hurt. I think we will see Wright before Manning unless we are behind. If we just need someone to hand the ball off and kill the clock, it will be Wright.

He can do it huh?....Quinn can do it also, but now that he got more accurate we hardly ever try.....outside of that 40 yd flick perfectly thrown to X .
Just because MM can throw it a mile ( maybe Quinn can only go 3/4 of a mile) doesnt mean it will happen. I mean....what the hell....We are supposed to have an unguardable TE but we hardly ever throw to him....

My take on Sanders great reciever. Better as WR than TE. As a blocker some members of this board would be better Primary of TE is to block IMO.

blocking is 70% unselfish desire. It's a mano-a-mano duel without the football. Not unlike basketball, you can tell a LOT about a football player by what he does without the ball or expectation of getting the ball on a play (spotlight).

play backup? absolutely. Helm would have at least attempted to block or at least slow down the defender. The whole point of having a TE is for the dual threat aspect. He should be both a good blocker and a good receiver and the defense shouldnt know what he is going to do on any particular play.

Until Sanders shows a desire to do the majority of what a TE is suppose to do (block), then he's a TE in name only: He's a receiver that sometimes lines up tight on the line.

Sark will need to go to the deep ball early and often, BYU is going to stack the box and force Maalik and/OR Manning to beat them in the pass game. I think if Sark gets too conservative like he has in the past, we will likely see a loss here, his offense needs to remain aggressive and unpredictable
