Which QB starts next week?

According to TFB, Murphy was injured/banged up in practice last week. Their sources were surprised that Murphy was able to play Saturday. They said if the game had gone longer, Arch likely would have seen action.

Definitely adds a layer of intrigue to the situation.

Hamilton at IT mentioned the first news he had on Ewers suggested he's out for four or five games, so Sark will have a decision to make as opposed to just trying to survive one or two games.

seriously, I am beginning to wonder what the offense will do if Ewers starts. Quinn has been very good. He is improving each week, and that TD pass to Worthy could not have been thrown better by Tom Brady.

I am very puzzled however. We have a very good QB. We have been told we have a very good O line. We have a very good running back with very good backups. Our WR's are supposedly draft worthy. Our offensive play caller is a well known offensive savant. We have a TE that is supposed to be a matchup nightmare to defend. Why is this nightmare only targeted 3 times a game? Is there a rule that this offensive juggarnaught can never exceed 38 points a game?

The amazing thing is that in any given game, when under the gun, and in a "must perform" situation, we seem to always get the go ahead score. Why in hell can we not score from 3 yards out with a first and goal.....time and again?

Why can our defense beat the crap out of a team for most of the day, but never make a pivitol stop when needed?

I do not want this post as a whine against the coaches. I am just somewhat frustrated. I believe in Sark!

Hopefully with Malik getting most of the #1 team snaps this week, Malik and Sark will feel comfortable opening up the play book way more then what we saw yesterday.

if this is not the case then something is VERY wrong. MM has been here 2 plus years now. If he is not ready now he never will be.

Wright is a fine young man that will graduate with a degree from The University of Texas. That's all. Barring multiple injuries he will carry a clipboard and that's about it. I see us running the wildcat with Red before Wright runs the offense full time.

the answer is based on Sark's past history, remember we ran into that scenario with Hudson last year, Quinn is his guy if he is cleared to play he plays

I'd assume it would come down to Sark's judgement on who would give the team the best chance to win. Quinn won't go from injured and unable to play one week to 100% the next week, so he'll have degrees of readiness week to week. Then there is rust from inactivity away from live fire. Then, how well does his replacement play? Does Sark think good but not great 2nd teamer is better than Quinn's ready but rusty and maybe not yet 100%?

I just hope it comes down to that very decision, anticipating what UT QB will play in the championship game. If we get a shot at the championship game It will mean the rest of the season had gone pretty well for us, even with a back-up QB.

Maalik has looked much better in other games he played in. Have read Maalik was injured this might have effected the play calling. I know football has changed coaches like to be cute and trick the other team.

Getting physical and running the ball still wins games. When Ala. was great ( not this year ) they controled the game in second half by running.

but Alabama had some playmakers many of whom are going to be in the NFL, we certainly dont have that in the secondary and Ford is playing off his reputation, he hasn't wrecked havoc like he did last year and I think its because he is not a IMLB

I like the idea of power run game, including the 6 OL package with Agbo out there at TE, with MM doing some running. He isn't a dual threat QB but he is big and in a power run scheme could help keep us on schedule.

This also allows us to control clock and shorten the game. Run a shorter Defensive rotation with only our best guys out there as much as possible.

I've seen it mentioned several times. But MM is NOT a dual threat qb. I doubt he'll pull the ball down and run any more often than Quinn. MM is a pocket passer in every sense of the word

Yep, one thing definitely working against Murphy is a lack of mobility.

Arch was clocked as one of the faster guys on the team earlier in the year, at least for straight line speed.
