Ivan Melendez continued his hot streak with a 2-3 performance at the plate, including a home run - his third in three straight games to propel the #4 Longhorns to a 9-1 win over Stephen F. Austin on Wednesday night.
The Longhorns scored a pair of runs in each of the first two innings to take a 4-0 lead into the fourth-inning. Texas made good of a solo home run from Zach Zubia and a three-run shot from Melendez in the fourth to vault the Longhorns to an 8-0 lead.
Stephen F. Austin scored their lone run in the eighth on Cal Martin's single which scored Cameron Crawford.
Texas added an insurance run in the bottom of the frame on a solo home run by DJ Petrinski to make the score 9-1.
LHP Pete Hansen picked up the win in six innings pitched, giving up no runs on two hits and striking out three.
Jared Southard and Coy Cobb pitched the seventh and eight innings, respectively, before Sam Walbridge closed things out in the 9th.
Texas will open a 3-game homestand with Kansas State on Friday at 6:30 pm.
