I guess I'm gonna be the one to differ concerning Strong's staffing decisions. (Real or rumored) Any head coach taking a new job is going to want to bring at least some of his staffers with him. There's a comfort level there, plus they already know what the head coach wants and expects, and they can help pass that on to other assistant coaches. A smart head coach taking over a new job will also want to cherry pick an assistant or two off of the previous staff. They know the territory, and have ties to the high school coaches in that state. A really smart head coach then tops off the staff with the best assistants available to him from around the country, with an emphasis on recruiting, teaching, and, hopefully, knowing the territory of the new job. I am no insider, but I haven't seen a dumb move by Coach Strong yet. He's apparently bringing his D.C., linebackers coach, and s&c coach from the 'Ville. There's speculation on a couple of others, but so far, it's just speculation. He's keeping at least two, and maybe more from Mack's staff, and we have no idea where else he is looking for assistants. I get it that there are some folks who don't want to give Strong a chance, simply because he's not Nick Saban, or for other reasons, but you might want to wait until he's assembled his staff before crabbing about it.
