Video that should make you excited

Say what you want about Watson, but I tend to agree with Whitfield here.  I know it may not be the flashy, run and gun, Big 12 style offense we are used to, but Watson is going to bring in a style of offense that will prepare guys for the next level.  This in turn is going to bring in good blue chip recruits who are willing to learn and fit into the culture at Texas.  And IMHO, that is going to bring the wins we want.

Watson will get blasted next year for not being flashy enough. . .

Sadly. . . .if you want to blast. . .then you will need to blast Charlie cuz Charlies doesn't want to be flashy/pin ball wizard/nintento. . .

Charlie wants an offense that scores enough points to win but also that keeps his D off the field and rested while it wears out the other D. . .

Defense still wins titles. ..

Yep, I never understood the Shawn Watson criticism. So what, he runs a vanilla offense and doesn't put up big numbers. Watson doesn't want to. That's the point. He likes to run a simple offense where there are limited turnovers and the offense maintains possession/burns clock. That's Strong's style of play. Watson is no Morris, and he doesn't want to be.

One thing I will point out and take a ton of heat for. . . . . . .Greg Davis' offense here was pretty damn spectacular .. . . . now we had some crap games but who doesn't. . ..  .

But under Mack we were largely a "win with offense" type team until GR and Tomey arrived and if you don't think they aren't responsible for 2005. . .I have some swamp land in Zona for you. . . . . .

While I was branded (and have no real issue with it) a Mack Apologist for years .. . the same couch coaches claimed I was full of it for being one of the first to point out the biggest difference between Mack and STooper was DEFENSE. . . . oh and Stooper's inability to perform in big games. . . .

One of the reasons I favored Charlie Strong over the pin ball wizard offerings is he understands DEFENSE. . . .DEFENSE wins titles..  .

Our O will be about like the last 2 years with better ball control, TOP and TD Red Zone scoring. . .if it's not better. . .then criticism will be more legit. . .

I know some are better analysts than me, but I always thought Greg Davis was a good QB coach...it's what he did going back to UNC if I recall. Complacency, MacWhorter, and yet another offensive change seems to lead to his demise.

I hope Watson gets us back on track. If he can develop the QBs, and Wickline the OL plus running game, we're somewhat Alabama, right?

Did I hear correctly that Heard and Whitfield are cousins?

Listening to Whitfield, folks may be writing Swoopes off too soon. If Swoopes really wants to play QB, it sounds like he has one of the best tutors in the game.
