Urban Meyer: Why would he leave Ohio State for Texas?

I don't think he would come. He's the head coach of the flag institution in his home state. Be realistic.

I heard a story a couple years ago about him wanting to come here before he got the job at OSU. Back when we should have fired Mack before the extension. I cant remember but I think it had something to do with his wife having Austin ties or loving Austin or something. I cant freaking remember. My brother lives in Austin and he told me something about it. I need to ask him.

have heard in the past he had told people he would be def interested if Texas job ever came open. thought very highly of it. That was before he went to tOSU so now sure how he feels now, but some have claimed he would have taken the job a few years ago if Mack had retired

Urban obviously is highly successful, but he left Florida after not only a fairly bad season (albeit not as bad as this year's Gator team), and--perhaps most importantly--with a lot of dubious characters that Will, to his credit, has had to purge the program of.

This.

If we're going to change the culture of the program, I'm not sure I like the culture Meyer left behind at Florida.

Urban is not going to leave OSU for Texas. After he left FLorida there were 6 jobs he would have taken if they came available.

OSU, Penn State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Texas, ALabama. Being an Ohio guy and growing up an OSU fan as well as a Notre Dame fan. Ohio State and Notre Dame were his 2 dream jobs on that list. He landed at Ohio State. He will not be leaving after 2 years and unfinished business. Remember he was a quarter away from playing in the National Championship this year. Ohio State is one of the top 5 coaching jobs in the country. He is not going to leave his dream job after 2 years to go to Texas. If you think that you are crazy.

The only thing less realistic than Urban Meyer coaching Texas next year is Jim Harbaugh coaching Texas.

Not gonna argue your logic, but Meyer actually chose the Florida job over Notre Dame back in the day. Just sayin'

He did, but remember he was coming from Utah at the time. Florida had a bigger upside at the time. Both Florida and ND are top 5 or at least top 10 jobs with the resources and infrastructure in place.

If he were still coaching at Florida, he would have never left Florida for Ohio State. Same logic applies at Texas but even more so, he will not leave Ohio State for Texas but on top of that you can add the fact that Ohio is home for him which is even a stronger pull.
