Well, National Signing Day came and went. Brandon did not sign a letter of intent.
Navarro backed off thinking Brandon was headed to McMurry.
The Saturday before the NSD, McMurry's BOR voted to have the athletic programs pursue NCAA Div. III after spending the last two years pursuing and playing Div. II schedule.
So this sent things into a tailspin, to say the least.
McMurry HC Mason Miller contacted us after the BOR vote and told us that Brandon will be offered an academic scholarship instead since McMurry will no longer offer athletic scholarships in any sport. McMurry had received Brandon's application, SAT score and transcripts a month before so his academic stuff was already in their system.
Brandon is content with where this has landed. I think it's cool that he's being recognized for his academics because he's always worked so hard to achieve high grades. He'll get to play football on the next level, get his education/degree, and much of it will be provided for him.
We're scheduled to be in Abilene late next week to sit down and sign the papers with Coach Miller. Brandon's pretty excited about the coming visit. Thanks for indulging me and for the kind thoughts and prayers along the way. This has been a journey.
Brandon was awarded a $500 scholarship from the Lewisville Farmers Booster Club in late January (below)
