TOS: Ed O

I love the potential hire, especially if it is at DL coach and recruiting coordinator. He can have the assistant HC title also.

I can see him being a DC but preferably with a HC who is a defensive guy, like Saban or Strong.

Kiffin being at the bama practices means Kiffin as OC @ Texas.
If this story is true, then the Kiffin-Orgeron tie does make the most sense.

New update at IT that lends more possibility to this being true. Eric Nahlin is at the Army combine and had a Texas recruit tell him unsolicited Orgeron talked to Texas last night per some USC players

Sh*t is getting real my friend.

Not trying to toot my own horn, but when Kiffin showed up at Alabama's practices, my first thought was, "could he be talking about a job as OC?"

But I can't prove it, so this really means nothing!

What USC players would be at the Army combine in San Antonio? Seems odd there would be college kids there.

Orgeron was also popular with the USC players and fans before Haden let him go.

USC athletic director Pat Haden finally addressed the groundswell of support for interim Ed Orgeron this week.

Haden’s comments were timely because USC’s coaching search took a life of its own this week. The Trojans’ upset of Stanford catapulted Orgeron to frontrunner status ... if the fans decided who would coach the team.

ESPN --

We now know Ed Orgeron can take a team coming off a wildly emotional victory and looking ahead to an eagerly-anticipated rivalry game and coax it to maintain its focus in the frozen confines of a hostile environment.
Check off another box on his ever-growing résumé.

Ed Orgeron has the least unknowns of all the coaching candidates for USC.

It's becoming abundantly clear at this point that Orgeron’s biggest advantage in The Great USC Coaching Search is that he's the one with the least unknowns.

Think about it. He has gone 6-1 featuring the old-fashion, power running style Trojans fans and boosters prefer. He has upgraded and improved an already excellent defense. The special teams have become overpowering and the overall mistakes cut to a minimum. He is widely acknowledged as one of the country’s premier recruiters. And oh yeah, the kids absolutely love playing for him.

I am going to assume the USC players are commits? Doesn't even make sense Orgeron would tell USC commits he spoke to UT. He hasn't been associated with USC since Sarkisian was hired and is not actively recruiting for any school. If it was USC players it makes no sense either.

There are probably a few USC commits that Oregeron recruited himself and has solid relationships with from his time there. Remember, he has been as assistant and their lead recruiter for a couple of years now before he got the interim gig. He probably is pretty close with just about all of their commits and it wouldn't surprise me if he was talking to some of them and they asked what he was going to do next.

perhaps he is still close with some and he can talk to anyone since he's not on a staff right now? He's there with his son. I have no idea

All that is being reported by Eric who is in San Antonio is he was told this by a UT commit based on what they heard. He didnt even bring up Orgeron to the UT commit so its a pretty strange thing to just throw out for no reason

maybe the player was mistaken...maybe its true. Dunno

Ogeron was hurt by USC and quit before the bowl game. I can see why he would try and sway players away from them. May not be good practice but sometims you aren't very level headed when you are angry or hurt.

He flew commercial. Southwest Airlines, I think.
Just like Mack when he flew to LA to make the ESPN commercial with Saban after the 2009 MNC game. Chis Fowler tells a funny story about this.

I'm just going to float this out there because there are so many possible angles. While I still believe Saban is A#1 and it's his job take, Gruden has ties out west and would have very good information coming his way as to who the best recruiters and coaches are around the country.

If memory serves me correct, OB was the first to pop the Gruden interest story. Amongst all the mud flung on the wall, keep an ear out for Gruden talks this weekend.

OK, where are all you flight tracker guys?
A couple of flights in from Louisiana. One, a Cessna Citation on its way back from Grand Cayman registered to an Austinite. The other, from Alexandria, LA registered to Wells Fargo Bank, NA.

Edit. Looks like he may have flown into SA on a commercial flight yesterday. Got nothing.

Kiffin does not get the jw seal of approval - do not want him around our program.

Now his wife on the other hand....
