Tom Herman

Okay, in the past day or so, a "red flag" has been raised regarding Herman causing Texas to pause in their pursuit. There was much speculation about Herman and some sort of drinking problem.

Well, apparently, it is nothing more than he drinks in public. Not that he gets drunk in public mind you, but simply that he drinks in public.

Some are speculating that this is nothing more than a smokescreen that Texas can use to justify keeping Strong.

There is also some speculation that Charlie has been spotted failing to make halftime adjustments.  Not sure if this is true but the rumor is floating around.  The only evidence I can provide is circumstantial at this point and its his 2-12 record (whatever it is) when trailing at halftime.  ;)

OB is speculating that Texas put this info out as a "trial balloon" to see what the public reaction would be.

IT is saying that this has been known for awhile and is not a problem but that someone with an "agenda" is bringing it up.

I read that Phil Knight says he'll pay 10 mill a year for a head coach at Oregon.

Could that also tempt Herman?

I heard that Joe Jamail was known to have an occasional drink or two and that he even used a curse word on occasion.  Oh, heaven forbid!

And, do you know that DKR used to share a 6 pack (or two) with Willie and Joe?

Oh my, haven't we become prim and proper!  That is the biggest crock that I have ever heard, and teaching school, I must deal with some totally irrational parents at times.

btw, the Pope is Catholic.

To make matters worse, Houston didn't just beat Louisville, Houston took Louisville apart for four quarters both offensively and defensively.  They both had a fairly impressive resume coming into the game, and Houston's losses can easily be explained by several key injuries, although SMU is still something of a mystery.

I watched Louisville several times this year and believed they were legitimate.  It was a surprise to see them systematically dismantled like that.

Typical OB ridiculousness.  Not worth consideration.

I see all the love for Herman and I can understand it...if..no other coach was worthwhile considering.

But if the Herman fanboys simply want a coach that knows how to win at the top level - why not Bill Snyder?  Sure he is older than dirt, but so what?  He whipped our butts this year and did it with 2 star players.  What could he do with Texas talent?

And speaking of talent and w/l records, what would Herman's record be without Ware?  Hmmmmm?  Having a transcendent QB makes a helluva difference in your w/l record - ask Strong or Meyer.

Just remember - Texas doesn't make snap decisions about head coaches.  Never has, never will.

There are some people on here that should be prepared for a possible surprise.

As long as the surprise is not Les Miles, I should survive it, doc.
The University of Texas is a stodgy old school.  They would never hire Les Miles or Freeze.  Too much SEC shenanigans for UT to stomach.

The only reason they even considered Saban was because...well, he is Saban.

Beyond hysterical UT fans, there are a few equally hysterical BMD's that want Herman as well.

Fortunately, calmer and more reasonable heads will prevail and a proper vetting will occur.  Of all potential candidates.

This, of course, assumes that Strong is relieved of his duties.  Which I doubt.
