This is for all the, "No way Saban is an option people!"

Im just getting tired of the waiting... Every coach we have talked to is backing out.... what does this mean? Are we going to be stuck with a Franklin hire? or will we be able to pull of Saban or Harbaugh?

The only people who think Saban is a candidate are UT fans, he is clearly not coming here & never was

He signed his new deal & stated he was never interested in leaving Bama

What more do you need? He's not coming, it's that simple

I dearly hope Saban is truly currently considering coming here to Texas. However, with him resigning with Alabama, and with him already denying the rumors, I just don't see it happening... I'd love to be wrong though. I hope we end up with Saban and an awesome team of assistants.

It's way more than fans

Agree, it would be the ideal hire, just very much a long shot at this point

Seriously. What is so hard to understand? Do you guys expect Saban to say he's not coming here every single day? I wouldn't even say "UT fans" believe Saban is coming because really it's only this site that keeps bringing him up. Obviously you want more people to visit your website (and it's worked as I am here right now) so you throw names around like Saban and Harbaugh but neither are coming here. Saban signed an extension. It's over. Bring on Strong.

I believe that McPhaul is telling the truth about what he is being told. I just don't always buy what his source is saying. But I feel that way about all the sites. The different sites and their reporters are being truthful about what they are hearing. It's their sources that at times may be stretching the truth.
He has a lot more than just one source. He's extremely well connected in the BMD universe.

Guess we'll find out soon enough. I trust what I have been hearing from McP, SHL and JS.

Man baghorn where you been?
Skiing with the family where our internet access was barely existent as the regional provider kept suffering outages. I'm back now and ready for the main event...drinks are poured and the popcorn is ready. This should be a fun weekend.

Right now, I think there is an inverse relationship between the names trumpeted by the mainstream media including Orangebloods and where guys rank in the pecking order. This is the agents trumpeting their guy to get a raise from their current gig. The more you hear their name mentioned the lower they are in our stack ranking.

The deathly silence with Saban....then later Fisher...and then later still Harbaugh indicates both sides are content with where they stand in the discussion. That makes Saban, Fisher, and Harbaugh your likely top 3...in that order. If Strong has impressed as much as indicated he may have worked his way up as high as Harbaugh or just beneath him. I doubt this deal goes beyond the man who has the contract in front of him right now.

Apparently you ignore what the man has publicly stated.he isn't coming and hasn't been an option since black friday. It's time to move on. It's getting really old.

I had am epiphany today. It occurred to me that Malzhan took a 3 win team a year ago and took them to the natty game this year. He did this without a Heisman quarterback. He's the man we need on the 40.

Hornon

What did Saban say the day before he took the Bama job? Refresh my memory, would ya?

Im fine with you feeling that way. But why are you so concerned with others' perception. It's one thing to have conflicting info, but have none and act like we're all naive . . .

To correct some bad info here - this is not the only site saying Saban. IT and Jesus have not wavered in their stance that Saban is our next HC.

Here's the deal, there's a big difference in what people say at Press Conferences versus what they're actually thinking. Saban has never told us no at any point in this process. Nothing has changed as of today. He's been ready to come here for almost a year. The problems have all been on our end...primarily one Mack Brown. As of today, all the decks are finally cleared for him to come here on his terms and with all stipulations & conditions met. He's the guy with a contract sitting in front of him right now. Our guys driving this deal feel like he's coming.

I like our backup plan guys a lot but at this point I'll be beyond shocked if Nick Saban is not announced as our next head coach at some point in the next few days.

1. What is he known for doing in the past?

2. How many times has he done it?

One of the main reasons people don't like him is that he is a mercenary at heart. Why would this time be different?

Do we want a coach that can't beat OU? You can lose half your games and beat OU and the fan base is content here.

Are you going to say no to the guy with 3 national titles on the wall in the last six years?

Besides, he beat OU when he was at LSU in a game that mattered.

No,I wouldn't think so.

Beating OU is always a top priority, but Texas beat OU this year and the fan base was hardly content at the end of the season.
