Simply put, all of the crying and whining over what is and isn't happening with the team needs to stop. Strong hasn't even led those men out on to the field yet and people are already claiming he's failed. Why? Because he didn't get Herman? Or Frost? Or Morris? Does anyone actually realize the reality that all three of those men will be Head Coaches within the next two years? Or are the burnt orange blinders some of you are wearing so damn thick, that you don't realize being the Offensive Coordinator at Texas isn't the 2nd most luxurious position in College Football. The same entitlement that Coach Strong is attempting to whip out of the boys on this team we support, is a plague infecting all of our fans. "We Are Texas though!" Yes, we are. So it's time we stop boo-hooing about things we couldn't even begin to comprehend yet. Nobody on this board, no insider or newbie, has any idea what kind of Offensive Strategy Strong and Co. are preparing. But what we do know is that Strong and Co. put together an above average offense at Louisville. Let me repeat that last part...AT LOUISVILLE! "But what about recruiting offensive players!" Yeah...I suppose Charlie isn't any good at that. Until you consider the fact that Strong helped recruit and develop a Heisman winning Quarterback out of Florida. Or unless you consider the fact that Charlie actually recruited Offensive Players away from Texas over the last two years. And/Or unless you consider the fact that Louisville put up above average numbers with a lesser staff than the staff put together by Strong here at Texas. Wickline is one of the most intelligent offensive minds in College Football yet he's being seemingly ignored by many because we didn't announce we broke the bank for Morris. And as far as those complaining about a lack of information go, you should be ecstatic. The misdirection that we've all been the victim of the last two months is the product of a job well done by Patterson. He's cleaning up Belmont one leak at a time and tuning it into a well oiled machine. This isn't College Station. We don't fold our arms up, pout our lips and boo-hoo when things don't go our way. We man up and put our faith in the Burnt Orange because this is Texas. I realize this isn't what some want to hear, but it's what everyone needs to hear. We need to ditch the entitlement and all focus on earning that same respect that this team is trying to earn. If you took offense by this post, you're likely one of the people who needed to hear this the most.

Nice try, but without a strategist who has proven their ability to lead the offense of a major program, we have reason to be concerned when our schedule includes a number of teams whose coaches have repeatedly proven their ability to shut even powerful offensive schemes. Snyder, Gundy, Stoops, even Briles are going to find a way to score against our defense and they most likely are going to give any offense fits. Right now, we seem to be somewhat lost, looking for an answer on offense to somehow just appear. There is no media spokesperson for the program, discussing how the various moves make sense in the world of Charlie Strong. Coach Strong evidently isn't the type of coach who builds a warm rapport with the fanbase. We probably aren't going to get any connection with the team until well after the season starts and we see results. In the mean time, we have to judge what we see on how we see it. Personally, I don't see an overall offensive strategy and I don't see anything to make me think we have the answer to what Snyder, Stoops, Gundy, Briles, Patterson or Jim Mora are going to put up against us to keep us from scoring.

Everybody will come to terms in their own time. Just gotta give them a minute to adjust. If they don't, well then they can simply walk away. Either way, people are going to vent and voice their frustration. That's kind of what happens on message boards.

You can't call people out for claiming he's already failed and turn around and state that these coaches are going to be a HC in two years.

Charlie gets a shot.

I sense that he wants to do things his way. Fine. Let him earn his $5 mil a year.

If, and that's a big IF, he doesn't produce or recruit well, then he should accept the consequences.

If he does well, he will be adored on the 40.

Ball is in his court.

Look at it this way. I have had little to no hope over the last 3 years after the 5-6 debacle. For the first time we have some excitement. Sure it is scary. I think that is primarily that we really don't know the plan. It has been a long time since we have been this in the dark.

It is hard to draw a proper conclusion when only seeing small bits and pieces of information and even its authenticity is questioned.

It's not dealing with frustration. it's having a lack of confidence. So far, we don't seem to have an observable offensive strategy or a leader on offense to execute it. All we have for sure is a long list of opponents lead by people who have demonstrated their ability to shut down even well developed, well executed game plans.

oh, you do not see an offensive strategy? how many of the coaches have you talked to about this? what do you personally know about offensive strategies or what OCs do? come down off that ivory tower for a bit, become a fan of the team and its coaches and watch the damn games without trying to pick apart every little thing. College football is not life or death; it is a game.

So let's hear your coaching plan. Type of recruits you want for each position. What are you going to look for in these recruits. Tell us your offensive and defensive scheme lets get detailed. Also let's talk personal grouping. Looking forward to your report coach.

We don't even have an offensive coordinator yet. At least not one anyone can identify. The lack of identifiable leadership leads me to question an identifiable direction.

We have two past coordinators and an individual who, as rumor has it, will be named a co-coordinator, even though he has never demonstrated an ability to scheme an offense. One of the first warning signs in the development of any leadership team is the lack of defined authority. There also needs to be the ability to identify one final decision maker why bears responsibility for the results. So far this leadership team shows bot a lot of potential and also a lot of easily identifiable warning sign of a lack of structure. So far, I see more confusion that I do overall strategy when it comes to hiring the right team to lead the offense. If I am one of the individuals responsible for developing the scheme to shut down the UT offense, I'm not concerned. If I am a high level potential UT recruit, I'm looking at other schools.

Hard to judge if we don't have any insight. You are projecting based on one side of the story without waiting for ours to come out. I understand the frustration of not having the information flow like we have in the past, but right now almost all of the arguments are based on...

Thats what a fan is...

Fanatic = crazy, assuming, over reacting summammabit*tch.

Don't get mad at us we just libe UT football.

Whatever is going on it doesn't look good. Looks like UT either can't get a good candidate or can't make a decision. Its not the hunt for bin laden so why all the shrouded secrecy if there is an OC in place your satisfied with. Recruits don't have 3 or 4 years to let it play out on the field. Fans can wait 3 or 4 years but recruits have to consider the staff on a much shorter time line. Oh, maybe that is why some posters are concerned with the hires now.

I'm not getting paid $5mil to make those decisions.Patterson should have been asking those questions to Charlie Strong and, once Patterson was satisfied with those answers and hired him. Strong should have hot the ground running, assembling a leadership team. Other schools have done a MUCH better job at finding an OC and the OC's assistants that we have. We are closer to the end of the process than the beginning and we don't even have an OC yet. My "Plan B" would certainly not to turn to an absolute amateur on the internet.

My complaint is that we don't have an identified leader on offense who has instilled much confidence he can create an offensive scheme to go up against individuals who have repeatedly shown they can counter even the most well executed offensive schemes. Charlie Strong may well have identified someone who is capable of rising above what they have delivered so far in their career and take on some very good defensive strategists. I can't name who that person is and I surely can't see what Coach Strong sees. I see a lot of "competent" in the hiring of offensive coaches. I surely don't see one of the best coaching staffs in college football.

The tow-the-line/brow beating posts need to stop. There seem to be a dozen or so people on this site who have made it their mission in life to try and stifle any criticism of the program.

Yes it's too early to pass final judgment on the CS era at Texas. But it's never too early for fans to discuss and debate what's going on.

If it bothers you then steer clear of the "whining" threads.

People whining about people whining needs to stop
Coach Strong has barely gotten started and we have this arrogant group of fans that actually believe they know more about football than our new coach.

Its amazing, they already see him as having failed and we havent even had a practice yet.

I just think we need to have some faith in the guy. There is certainly a chance he may fail BUT, the guys on the message boards certainly know far less about coaching than he does.

Let him set the tone and set up his program.

In a year or two we will likely know if it will work.
