The Top 4 Candidates

I love the top 3, I that order. I don't think John in a slam, might be good. He just doesn't have college experience.

Any of those would not suck!

I would prefer Fisher over Malzahn. He is a deciple of Saban and understands accountability and discipline who also believes in a great offense.

Nick Saban ... Not going to happen

Jim Harbaugh ... Not going to happen

Jimbo Fisher ... Might happen

John Harbaugh ... Not going to happen

I have no information, nor do I know anyone who would tell me anything, but just a hunch. It might be time to move a little lower down the food chain of coaches?

I guess i am a little confused on saban. What is left to talk about? I understand how to announce, when, etc. But if we were as close as it was reported, the details should be pretty well nailed down i would think. Either he still wants to come or he doesnt. Is it browns role?
My thoughts exactly

I am leaning this way as well.

Maybe he is trying to throw our bloodhounds off the scent. He is not saying Mahlzahn so it might be Mahlzahn

Great list! Couldn't go wrong with any of those choices IMO.
I just think the only one of those that might be realistic is Fisher

Frankly, I think Patterson is going to run a tight ship on this and the leaks will be minimal, thus we may not know who he is interested in. Patterson is savy enough to know that if we go through a list of dop dogs and they all say no and it becomes public, that we will look pretty small. Thus while we are all anxious to know what is happening, I bet we will not know until it actually happens

Steve Spurrier. (I know you don't like him, only his teenage grand daughters ... but just for the heck of it. LOL)

Things left to talk about: Mack's role moving forward, issues with Powers that need to be smoothed out. Compensation is basically worked out but always needs to be finalized. Finally, and most importantly, Saban needs cover until after his bowl game is over in the Sugar Bowl. Serious talks will not occur until then although back-channel discussions are occurring currently.

I agree! I think any list out there right now has to be met with some skepticism, as I feel Patterson is going to be very tight lipped and minimize and leaks on the coaching search. I am gonna sit back and enjoy the holidays and hope we have a new coach the first of the year.

I think the biggest thing is, realistic or not, make them say no. That is "if" the search committee sees one of the as the first choice.

Any of the group is fine with me, but I think Briles needs to be on it as well.

I'm just glad the only Patterson we're discussing is Steve and not Gary.

I think the hire needs to be a hands on, taskmaster type. The softness of the program is the main issue. The second most important hire after the HC will be whomever they bring in for the strength and conditioning program. That is the person who sets the tone for the entire program-the one who spends the most time with the players on a year-round basis.

Bring in the strength coaches from LSU or Alabama and pay no attention to the cost.

What happened with that Mack to Art face to face that supposedly went well? I'd think that would result in Briles at least being on a short list, but no.

Sorta confusing. I know he doesn't have the same "wow" factor or anywhere near but AB can freakin' coach and he knows Texas HS better than anyone. I'd love Jim or Jimbo but after those two I think I'd like to see Briles and Malzahn.

My personal top 5

(I would put Chip Kelly on there but will leave him off for now)

1. Jim Harbaugh

2. Urban Meyer

3. John Harbaugh

4. Nick Saban

5. Gus Malzahn

5b. Jimbo Fisher

I hope they are also giving some thought to Gary Anderson at Wisconsin.
