Florida v UCLA

Dayton v Stanford

- I've got UF as my champ, but this UCLA team makes me nervous. They're playing really, really well. I'm curious to see how Donovan and UF guard UCLA's point guard (he's 6'9"). UCLA plays solid defense & doesn't turn the ball over much - it's the perfect recipe to beat UF.

- I think (and hope) that Dayton can beat Stanford, but I don't think either team poses a threat to the UF/UCLA winner.

EAST

UVA v MSU

Iowa State v UConn

- UVA v MSU should be a great game. I'll give an edge to Sparty because of tournament experience. UVA is a veteran team, but this is uncharted water for them.

- Iowa State is better than UConn but Niang's absence makes it less than a sure thing. I think ISU still has too much firepower even without him, but Napier can take over a game if given a chance.

WEST

Arizona v SDSU

Baylor v Wisconsin

- I like Arizona to advance, but admit to underestimating SDSU throughout the first weekend. The Aztecs play great defense, but Arizona is too talented to lose this game....I think.

- This is an odd Bo Ryan/Wisconsin team because it's offense first instead of defense. The Badgers matchup to Baylor pretty well, but BU is playing with too much confidence. Give me the Bears in a high scoring game.

MIDWEST

UK v Louisville

Tennessee v Michigan

- UK v Louiville is on par with Duke v UNC according to the folks in Kentucky. The fact that it's happening in the tournament has the whole state drawing battle lines. I believe Louisville & Pitino would win this game 6 out of 10, but this is a one game playoff.

- I was surprised to see the board's tepid reaction to Michigan after they beat Texas? They're a really good team, IMO. The Vols should have been nicer to Mercer since they didn't have to play Duke (who would've scored with them more easily). This will be closer than the 2 v 11 should be, but Michigan will be too much in the end.

That's 3 "upsets" (higher ranked teams winning outright). That sounds about right for 8 games. There's always fewer shockers once teams advance to the 2nd weekend.

Who you got?

SOUTH

Florida v UCLA - I have Florida in the championship game but this UCLA team is dangerous. They're hot at the right time so I am going with UCLA with the upset.

Dayton v Stanford - Dayton in a close game but pulling for Stanford.

EAST

UVA v MSU - A battle of 2 great defensive teams. I'm picking MSU because of experience.

Iowa State v UConn - Going with UConn. Napier is Kemba Walker for the Huskies this year.

WEST

Arizona v SDSU - Pulling for Arizona and Arizona should win. Steve Fisher is the X-Factor. I can see SDSU keeping it close.

Baylor v Wisconsin - Baylor is on a hot streak. I see Baylor upsetting Wisky.

MIDWEST

UK v Louisville - Although Kentucky is a young team, I see them beating Louisville. Kentucky's length bothered Russ Smith in their matchup earlier this season.

Tennessee v Michigan - Tennessee is hard to figure out, but I am pulling for Michigan. Michigan is unbeatable if they shoot lights out again.

Let's do this! I really want a UCLA vs Michigan matchup. I would be very happy with either team winning.

Dayton frustrating Stanford and Wisconsin beating the Bears. I like Dayton's fire, and I love Wisconsin beating up Drew.

Entertaining games tonight. Some very nervous moments for UF & 'Zona. I thought UCLA and SDSU were both really impressive in their losses.

I probably underrated SDSU more than any other team coming in to the tournament.

Dayton, Wisconsin, Florida & Arizona advance.

I'm hangin right there with ya in the brackets.....for now.... ;)

FYI, for tonight...(hope I can stay awake for UVA/MSU! ;)

7:15 p.m. (2) Michigan vs. (11) Tennessee, Indianapolis (CBS Jim Nantz, Greg Anthony, Tracy Wolfson)

7:27 p.m. (3) Iowa State vs. (7) Connecticut, New York (TBS Verne Lundquist, Bill Raftery, Allie LaForce)

9:45 p.m. (4) Louisville vs. (8) Kentucky, Indianapolis (CBS Jim Nantz, Greg Anthony, Tracy Wolfson)

9:57 p.m. (1) Virginia vs. (4) Michigan State, New York (TBS Verne Lundquist, Bill Raftery, Allie LaForce)

Great games tonight!

Really a darn shame that CBS won't go PIP for the final minute of each of these games

on one hand, great night of basketball. on the other it shows the regular season doesn't mean squat. who advanced tonight ? yes, UM was a 2, but otherwise a 4,7 and 8.
