Tired of hearing excuses.

Tired of making excuses.

I lost all confidence in Swoopes and Watson last year. Starting to lose confidence in Wickline and Strong.

We give Charlie a pass on everything, but it appears Charlie gives Watson the same.

I want Strong to succeed, but If the Head Coach doesnt want to pay attention to the offense then how about hire someone who can actually coach the offense.

After you see the tweets below tell me that isnt on the coaches.  They have had the entire preseason to prepare.  Its their job to prepare the team.

Whatever happened to the preseason motto "No excuses"?  I guess that doesnt apply to coaches just the players?  SMH

I couldnt find the tweet regarding Bedfords post game statement regarding that MJ "wasnt any better or any worse than anyone else".

After reading Strongs, Watsons, and Bedfords statement I am beginning to wonder if any of them actually watch the game.

Recorded the game and watched the 1st half....a few things I saw where we can improve.

Establish a running game..zone blocking and power are a good way to get a run game going. Play action with naked's, waggles, sprint outs, seem to be a quick fix to pass pro problems, plus the are fairly easy plays to help build QB confidence. Throwing vertically vs single high is an answer with 4 verts..

VS - Two high - smash, corners, drive concepts, follow concepts  usually have good success..Man - shallow concepts, mesh concepts, digs, posts, double moves have a high rate of success... these are area we can improve on and I'm sure the coaches know all this. However, all of this depends on the following questions. See below.

A few questions: How much can your QB handle, (any of your QB's)...are they high rep learners or low rep learners? How does your game plan fit with what you are asking of your kids? Can they do what you are asking of them? Have you self scouted on practice film to see from where you have the most levels of success? what can you do as a coach to help your kids reach their highest levels of success? what do the do well? what do that do not so well? Does every position have real competition? How can you promote competition during practice? Do practice reps with success count toward playing time, or do you allow your kids to just go through the reps with no consequences? As a coach, can you create the most competitive environment where the kids understand how important each rep really is? How hungry is each kid at each position?

I'm sure these answers can be provided by many..I just threw out a few things I saw from where and how we can improve....Oh well, Hook'em
Shannon, always appreciate you jumping in here and bringing your insight.

Now, for those of us who are well-versed in these things, would you mind giving us a quick primer on what it is you are saying in the part above that I have bolded? Thanks.

I don't disagree with most of what you're saying. It's pretty well known that Swarbrick and Patterson aren't exactly friends.

That said, Kelly didn't take pity on us. He pulled his starters so they wouldn't get injured in meaningless minutes.
I don't like Swarbrick either.  Supposedly, we had a deal set with ND (per Deloss Dodds) and the a$$hole cut another with the ACC - behind our backs.  This very likely cost us an expansion with FSU, Clemson or Louisville.

Swarbrick knew those three teams had strong interest in the Big 12 and he cut that interest in the bud with ND's deal with the ACC.  Just like he wanted to do.

The Rice game is going to be an interesting spectacle. The number of empty seats is going to be really interesting. We have heard about the crappy season ticket renewals, but that issue will be amplified by the number of apathy-driven no-shows. The general attitude of the fans is going to be subdued at best because if we beat Rice no one cares and if we lose, they may lynch Patterson at midfield. I wouldn't be surprised to see 20,000 empty seats. By the way, I have two tickets to give away if anyone wants to save $5nsince $5 is about all the scalpers will be getting for s pair of tickets to the game.

I think the energy level will be low, the empty seats will be numerous and and I hope the heat starts getting ratcheted up on Patterson afterwards. If Cal comes in and hangs 60 on Texas and wins by 5 touchdowns, the real fun will begin.
Randy - you don't give Texas fans any credit.  they will be at that game in full roar.  Stand back and watch,.

You must have missed last season. The beginning of a new coach's tenure against North Texas and the attendance was the lowest since the stadium was expanded. That record lasted a week when attendance for the BYU game was even worse.

Honestly, Randy, I think you are trying to design something to support your narrative.

This was last years average attendance - 564,618 (94,103 average)

That's pretty damned good, IMO.

And here was the attendance of the two teams you singled out:

North Texas State - 93,201

BYU - 93,463 (you can see the attendance was NOT worse - as you contended)

The overall attendance figures were the best in the Big 12 - including OU.

I mean, what the hell, Randy?

I'm more with Duke on this. I wouldn't expect a great crowd and many will be ready to pounce at the first sign of adversity. Which ought to come early.

I'd imagine that if Swoopes comes out to start, you'll see some people leave.
I admit, I may be one of them but I will probably wait until halftime at least.

Speaking of Traylor; we only had 10 guys on the feild 4 times during special teams plays

Two things have to happen for Strong to keep his job past next year... 1) A new OC and 2 ) a new DC.

You have seen our offense the last three games....You have seen our defense the last three games.....Your honor I rest my case !!!

No excuses......Granted the offense does often go 3 and out, but look how often the defense forces itself to stay on the field allowing teams to convert 3rd and 5+ over and over.

This toy is broken and from listening to pressers, Charlie does not sound like the guy who can get this thing fixed.

I will be at every home game and I will be in Dallas supporting this team just as I was in South Bend...and I was there until "The Eyes" was played.

The funny thins is we had no ST issues vs ND so as I stated before maybe he should get a raise for doing more with less?

It blows my mind that Strong has stuck with Watson and Swoops up to this point. He is either ignorant or stupid at this point. I have been one of the biggest Charley Strong supporters but god damn, im starting to wonder if i am wrong. I want him to succeed badly as a person and coach but it honestly appears he is willing to go down with this ship by sticking with Watson and Swoops. How long does he really think he has to fix this. It would be one thing if we saw improvement but that hasn't happened.

He wont shut up about how he is so focused on defense but appears to have forgotten that head coach's job is to make sure the entire team is up to par. We are going to lose any momentum that we built up with this last recruiting class if he is too ignorant to fire his buddy Watson. Recruits are going to see this, his players are going to see this, the boosters and fans already see this. I have bottled up all of this anger for the last 3 days and cant take it. How the hell hasn't the big money donors not stepped up and give an ultimatum yet.

....Sorry guys for the rant, its just this shit sucks and doesn't appear to be heading in the right direction.

After reading hundreds of post and opinions the most troubling to me is where a coach grading the teams preformance. He gave all of the DT'S a D with a note that they were out of shape and gassed too quick. Thought Moore was the best.

No offense can look good with this OL. There is a reason why two freshmen are starting. Lack of numbers and lack of talent.
