The SEC thread

Wow! 😁 This rivalry is going to get crazy. Ole Miss had FBI sweep for bugs after Lane Kiffin's exit for LSU.

The executive director of Ole Miss' NIL collective said FBI agents searched the Rebels' football office for recording devices after former coach Lane Kiffin left for SEC rival LSU following the 2025 regular season.

The Big Ten is set to pass a rule Tuesday that doesn't allow players to return from the NFL and play for one of its schools, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Any player who has declared for the NFL draft and did not withdraw, appeared on an NFL roster or signed a contract with a pro league cannot be on a Big Ten roster, sources told Thamel.

Will SEC follow?

It's my understanding that once you attend your first college class, your 5 years of eligibility start. So in these cases I'm assuming their 5 years aren't up yet. I guess they weren't good enough to make a roster and didn't want to play in the summer/spring league.
I don't like it.

Says the SEC today, if you've signed an NFL contract and were drafted or signed as a FA, then you're not eligible to come back.

This excludes Cole Hutson, who was not drafted, signed no contract. Plus, he was still enrolled and taking classes at UT.

SEC draws rule to stop NFL, NBA, WNBA players from returning

The SEC joined the Big Ten on Tuesday in its unanimous opposition to athletes leaving the NFL and returning to college teams, swiftly passing a new conference rule that gives SEC commissioner Greg Sankey full authority to enforce it "with penalties."
