The Ride

No flame here as I like this site, but I'm genuinely curious.

When did Sirhornsalot all of a sudden get these incredible sources? Trying to understand.

Why is Strong considered an absolute stud? Just curious
DC for South Carolina and Florida under Meyer, matter of fact he is the only coach Meyer retained off of Zook's staff at Florida. Young coach who has proven himself at Louisville and obviously gets the most out of his players. His QB will be chosen #1 overall in the draft. He is fiery and is a proven winner. We don't need another CEO. We need a coach that can motivate his players and that can recruit. Charlie Strong has had some of the best defenses in the SEC. He is energetic and given the right opportunity would thrive in a big time program IMO. I am excited about the possibilities.

Question. Do his sources line up to what your sources are saying?

You can always PM me or even email me.

I don't consider myself an "insider." I have a friend who is very well connected and a customer who is as well. My business has 80-90 Longhorn customers right now in DFW and Austin. I had no idea of my connected customer until November when the coaching discussion was in full swing. He approached me about it and spilled. We've been talking ever since about it.

McPhaul is the connected one here. JS is as well. They supply a bulk of the info that we know of. What I sorta offer is tidbits here and there.

BTW, if I were an insider, I would be the second landscaper to be one, the other being quite well known among Horns for a long time. The landscape business is what connected us.

Hope that explains it.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Maybe I should purchase some advertising so the insiders will start texting and emailing me. It seems strange he is doing here what he swore he was not trying to do on IT.

Uh, that's not how it works my friend.

I am a sponsor of this site. My connections happened prior to my arrival here. When you advertise, you generally expect/hope to help your business.

I wasn't approached by IT to be a sponsor. If they had and we had worked something out, I'd talked more about my business there. I was there before I was here.

BTW, you're going to confuse folks with the accusation. I never swore I'd not share information about a coaching search. I swore that my landscape threads were for the benefit of Longhorns, not my business. Feel free to check that against the thread. It's one I will never forget.

Again, I have read what jttexas has been writing over on OB for months. Is his sources now saying something different than what you're saying? Jttexas?

Yes, I'm well aware how it works. Frankly, something just seems amiss. You have every right to sell yourself however you like, but I'm just not buying it. I'm sure you're okay with that, I just felt the need to respond since you replied to me directly.

1. What exactly is "amiss"?

2. What exactly are you not buying? That my company has become a sponsor here?

2A. All I've really talked about is a coaching search in the past few weeks. How has my posting in any way helped my business? Do I have a right to be a Longhorn as well as a landscaper?

3. I replied to you directly because you spoke about me directly.

I think I've explained myself fairly well. Right now, I have no idea what you're saying or accusing.

It has occurred to me that the various and sometime contradictive rumors about coaching prospects, especially those about Saban, are because of the confusion about who the sources are. I suspect the rumors originate with legitimate sources that are friends of regents, Bellmont, BMD's and various admin people.

All of these have probably heard something, made assumptions and/or have agendas of their own. By he time they reach the publics ears the rumors have been watered down and distorted quite a bit.

Do I doubt there are those that believe Saban is coming - no. Hell, there are probably BMD's telling friends that Saban has been coming all along and are convinced it is a done deal. I know Oliver Luck thought the AD job was a done deal.

Also, do I doubt those that believe Saban is NOT coming - again, no. And for the same reasons I said above.

The truth is, the playing field has changed. First of all, the search committee is not doing the hiring and neither are the BMD's. Steve Patterson is. This is completely different from the ways things have been run for the past 50 years. It's unheard of.

And because Patterson is doing the hiring, he is the only one that has an idea who it will be and he may not really know yet. It's his decision alone and all the so called leaks, from connected people, are really just opinions as well.

Now, I am sure he has mentioned, from time to time, that he likes this guy and he likes that guy, and the "someones" have glommed onto this as the gospel. But it really is nothing more than personal musings and not the final decision.

So, what is the bottom line? Only Patterson really knows and we, like Danny Boy, must bide.

Not sure of the point of this? But this has nothing to do with discussing Longhorn football so lets move on to a new topic.

Fair enough. I apologize. I just had to say something after my observations at IT. I won't mention it again.

...and to keep it football related: I'm ecstatic that Mack's gone, I hope he doesn't f up the Saban hire (again), and I'm enjoying reading McPhaul's offerings.

UT, I'd be more than happy to answer any question you have. PM me any time you like.

"Put a group in a circle and whisper a single word in one persons ear....we have all head this before and I firmly believe that this happens with inside sources."

I posted this a week or so ago and firmly believe it.

here is an example of one of the things i really like about this site - her are two members who may have a difference of opinion or perspective but they discuss their points of view in civil manner and address the same without going bananas - shows the quality of posters here- glad to be a part of this community

This is what effective moderation looks like. Thank you!
