SignUp Now!You sure are a dailed in landscaper! Only kidding Sirhornsalot. I do like reading yours, Mcphauls, shaunsters and others input. Thank you.I don't think he has to be in Bama when its announced. I'm not sure I'm so worried about that, although it would be pretty interesting if Bama did lose it's top over this.
I've never been more confident that its Saban, based on conversations I've had today. The one consistency I'm finding in all of these people is that Saban is the name at the top and the others are being shuffled around.
I've learned today that we've had an recent interest, serious interest, from an NFL guy that we are mutually interested in.
What does that mean? Patterson is not going to allow Texas to be left out in the cold should Saban for some reason not happen. He will have someone in a position to turn to in the event that happens. All the shuffling of names you see are alternative candidates. If the NFL guy were to become HC here, IMO, we would have a tremendously happy message board for quite some time. No, it's not Jim Harbaugh. For now, focus on the guy who is getting the offer later this evening.
When this is done, we'll hear more I think, and have a great respect for how Patterson handled this job.

he doesnt have to be in alabama, but it would be safe bet, he lets those who are coming with him to get out in time...if they let this ride out past sunday and with how crazy we are with flight trackers, mobile internet and such, word will get out, and those people will be bombarded...If saban was to come, he will do it like he left miami and LSU...as quickly and swiftly as possible...anything past 48 hrs is treading on very dangerous waters specially in a rabid state like alabama.I don't think he has to be in Bama when its announced. I'm not sure who this is directed at or what the intent is if this postGet a clue!!!
I would imagine that the official offer would have to be in writing, but that could easily enough be handled through email these days. Does anyone know if Sexton is also a contract lawyer? Saban would surely run a contract of this magnitude by a lawyer, if his agent isn't one, or doesn't already have one in house that he will use. So, depending on complexity, this could take some time in and of itself.I don't think he has to be in Bama when its announced. but again i go back to this...if its saban, why are we still looking and reaching out to other guys like fisher and harbaugh...saban is no where a done deal like being reported...
I dont know what Saban is going to do, but that to me is just good business by Steve Patterson. As Mcphaul and some others have mentioned he's not going to be caught with his pants down. Saban can be interested and have given Patterson indication he would likely accept a formal offer, but until he's on a plane to Austin and steps foot in the Athletic complex for a press conference Patterson should be prepared for anything IMO. What if something happens after the Bama bowl game and Saban changes his mind? I never took done deal to mean Saban had already signed a UT contract...that couldnt happen yet. the BOR hasnt even been involved yet, etc. Then in that situation what if Patterson didnt have options 1, 2, 3 and 4 ready to go to seal the deal for the new coach in a matter of days?but again i go back to this...if its saban, why are we still looking and reaching out to other guys like fisher and harbaugh...saban is no where a done deal like being reported...

5 wordsI am still a member of the OB. It's beyond me why certain posters over there get preferential treatment when it comes to enforcing the board rules. There are certain juvenile posters who act like they are two years old and continue to get away with it while others are given one week bans for minor offenses. One of the things I love the most about this site is the lack of those types of threads. I also like that all of the information is shared without any spin. If the information ends up being wrong then so be it. Generally the person providing the information is just sharing what they hear.
There was talk of making the announcement during the the MNC game to get the most attention and to make an impact on high school players. I hope they don't do this. I think it could backfire and people would see it as the marketing ploy that is would be and in poor taste in trying to steal some of the championship game's attention.I think originally someone on here posted that it could be announced between the Sugar Bowl (Jan 2nd) and the MNC game (Jan 6th).
Hey Dizz, if that the case, would think all we are waiting for now is the ink on the contract.gonna be a quick hire. in addition to naming the coach before Jan 15 Patterson also said new coach with his staff in place and UT back in business before Jan 15. if thats the case to include his staff in place this search isnt going long
Why is Strong considered an absolute stud? Just curiousNot sure why people are knocking Briles and Strong?? Both solid choices. Like someone said last week, "I don't want Saban, I want the NEXT Saban"......while I personally would love to have Saban, both of the previous mentioned are absolute STUDS!
Getting JJ's camp to turn on Mack Brown is like trying to knock out Rocky Balboa. No joke what camp is that, I was hoping they were all gone...
