The Mack Brown Announcement Has Me Irked Off

We all know who has been out in front of this from the start. I'm telling you guys, Horn Sports is the fastest growing community out there. The others know it, too. We're just a bunch of good ol' boys that love our Longhorns. This site is blowing up right now as I type. Don't worry who takes credit. We know the truth and the truth is in membership, views and most importantly accuracy. Props to the staff here at HS. Well done! :)

How exactly is the national media supposed to give credit to an anonymous username on a messageboard?

Again there is a difference in being a reporter / journalist. Chip is a known entity with a long history. Insiders by in large are not as known. Just the way it works. Not saying it is fair.
To Chips credit, he has been saying for a long time that he believed that Mack was gone and had been hearing that it could happen. He tends to be more cautious in just coming out and saying. We need to keep this site vs site crap down. IT is almost unbearable because they spend more time bashing OB, even on the threads about the news. I am starting to spend most of my IT time here.

Hey now.

Lets be fair about what happened.

IT and this board hardy said a word about OB's until Ketch started his crap of outing JS's real name and knocking McPhaul and IT.

What you are reading is the backlash of that. Had Ketch kept quiet nobody would be saying a thing.

I like McPhaul and I'm very grateful for his info. But Chip is getting the credit because he is more credible to the masses. Chip is a journalist who uses his real name, McPhaul is a insider (Though a lot of us know his name and know what he looks like). You can't expect the masses to believe what McPhaul says, even though he continues to be right. I am not saying that McPhaul doesn't deserve the credit. All I am saying is that this is how it works.

Again Thanks for the news McPhaul. We/You know you've been on top of this for a while.

Seriously, How can a national media outlet credit someone when there is no story? Has there been a detailed story written and posted here? I know what gets posted but lets face it, anonymous internet posts are not going to get play and credit with the national media.

There's been a lot of talk on here lately about how this board is better that that board...that board is better than the other board...yada, yada. Everybody's right some time and wrong some time.

Ketch knew they had missed the story and went all in staking what's left of the credibility of that site. Bonus that it hit on a slow news day. Probably not a bad bet actually, but for a guy that has been toeing the line for Bellmont this is going to piss off a few people. There's a teeny tiny chance something like this could make Mack even more intransigent, although it's all but done. But this is anathema to a control-the-message guy like Mack.

Look for future Chip Brown articles painting a very rosy picture of the careers and accomplishments of one or two people at Bellmont. That'll be the payback and you'll know his sources. One is a layup. Chip was (is?) a journalist and had to get someone to confirm his usual source's info. That was the delay.

I think the credit should go to Jesus. He first reported of Saban coming to Texas a year ago.
Most definitely.

McPhaul has been saying it for a very long time too.

No doubt, IT and McPhaul deserve the credit here, especially when some of the other site owners, and posters, were making snide comments about the info on this story provided by JS and McPhaul. It is what it is.

At some point down the road the dam will break.

All the sites have their unique qualities. They all bring something to the table:

247 brings some great recruiting news.

OB has message board activity and what they report is generally certified by the "masses".

IT has inside information reported in real time, so it can be more fluid, volatile and is for the diehard fan.

Hornsports has the most user friendly message board IMO, reasonable discussion points with an emphasis on constructive criticism, a place for fan posts, and it has McPhaul providing some real time inside info. We also hope to expand on content before next season with the staff on hand. We hope Hornsports is known for the community more than amything else. Teamwork can make this place special in time.

Scipio Tex brings a unique perspective on UT sports not found anywhere else.

Wescott is solid.

And then there are the other sites people frequent as well.

After this is all settled, yes, I'd like to stay away from site wars. It's not what we are about. But there is one site that has dropped the ball in a big way the past few years and also continues to take potshots across the landscape. Great site. But there is room for more than one site. In fact, site dominance is not healthy for the fan base. No reason to air dirty laundry in the open. The customer base shouldn't be forced to read the business wars.

All I can say: it's good to be a Longhorn fan.

Texas Sports is covered under the microscope. A fan wouldn't have it any other way.

Chip Brown stakes his name and credibility on his report.

The rest of the Jesus Shuttlesworths and McPhauls, Shuansters, hide behind an anonymous message board login and have nothing to lose by reporting it.

Huge difference when Chip reports it and the rest of you guys saying it.
