Briles did not like the fact he was considered a contingency plan. Briles felt like he had too much to lose by interviewing with us and then, not getting the nod. This would cause dissension with the Baylor folks that just gave him a big raise & have also donated millions to the new facilities and Texas could use that on the recruiting front.

Briles felt like we were not valuing the fact that he is the only in state coach that knew the landscape and had the establish relationships with the Texas HS Football Coaches.

So he just wanted to be the guy? Appreciate the confidence but he doesn't have enough skins for that.

Oh well. When you already have your Prime candidate signed, sealed and delivered then you don't need Art Briles to be happy.

Makes sense. So what does your gut tell you are the serious candidates still in this?

Have zero issue with that.

He has every right to feel the way he does because it is correct.

Strong, Saban and Fisher are outsiders.

Oh well, Art. You should've played the game. Played along and maybe got the gig. It's a shame.

I imagine no one told him he was a continency plan. if he felt that he should be the only one interviewed, then his hubris is too great for his talent. If you're Saban and ready to pull the trigger, you can make demands like that. Otherwise, no one gets to do that.

glad he isn't coming let him win regular season games, while texas brings titles back to texas

so you are saying he will interview next week he just wanted to take the heat off?

Saban, Fisher, Strong and John H are as good if not better than Briles.

I like Bu being a top 25 team yearly and hope with our new coach to beat them annually.

...briles is a hypocrite. he knows that he really does not like "texas".... and has even "messed" with us beforehand. stay with the baptist arthur...

agreed, he is also better off at Baylor in the long run. His ego may not realize it yet though.
