I am working on creating a thread as a way to share some of the photos and document files I have accumulated during some of the research I have worked on. I am looking forward to input and comments from the members concerning any pictures posted or any pictures people want to see and haven't been able to find.

Up until now, I have had to get Aaron to put various individual files on the server to share with the members. I will start posting various pictures and docs for anyone who wants to see them. i have a ton of stuff I have accumulated and am looking forward to sharing it will everyone.

As always, thoughts and comments are encouraged.

This photo is the first photo ever taken of the assembled faculty of UT Austin. It was taken on Thanksgiving Day 1916 (prior to the game where Bevo was first presented to the student body). As related to be by Jim Nicar, former historian of Teas Exes, prior to this photo, many of the faculty did not have doctoral robes and they had to scramble to find one for each professor. I do not know the protocol for the proper gown for each discipline, but Jim said a number of the professors had the wrong robes for their field and just grabbed what they could get. The picture was taken on the steps of the state capitol.

Good stuff Duke. Keep it coming.

Here is the only Clark Field picture I have. Its some time during the early 1930s. For those who don't know where Clark Field was located it was where the current day Performing Arts Center is located.

randolph, if i have stated it once, i shall be more than happy to stated it again...  you are the consummate "statesman".  the aforementioned "photo's" are simply gorgeous.  any bit of "UT" nostalgia, is most welcome.

bring it!

Great photos, Duke!

We need a link to your well-researched articles about aggy and Farmville, too.

I have several but posted only one. I have that one on my computer too.

Hmm.  I can't figure out how to post a picture from my computer.
After you hit "Reply" you will see two buttons on the lower right, one says "Post." The other says "More Reply Options." Hit More Reply Options and you will see the "Attach Files" option on the lower left. Click on "Choose Files" and then load up the file from your computer you want to share. You can load up as many as it will let you until you hit the size constraint. Then hit Post.

How do we attach thumbnails without providing a URL?  I know, dumb question, but please enlighten me.

Assume that you are starting a new post by clicking in the reply box under my post. Down at the bottom, below the text box, under "Attach Files", next the the paper clip, click on the "Browse ..." button. Got to where you have the image stored on your computer that you want to insert. Click on the file, click on the "Attach This File" button. Your image is now inserted at the bottom of the text box as a thumbnail, and will be available to you for further use in the "My Media " button at the top of the text box when you create posts in the future ... Piece o' cake! ;)   If you attach this as I just explained, you will have the text "Attached Thumbnails" above your image(s).  If, instead, after you have attached the image you want to use, and you go over to the right on the grey bar that indicates that your image has been loaded and click the text that says, "Add to Post", your image(s) will be loaded in your post without the offending "Attached Thumbnails" text if in fact you consider it to be offending, like in Duke C #11's and Monarch's post above or like mine here.  Again, Piece o' cake! ;)   I have not delved into this yet, but I am assuming that if you want to make the image bigger like in Monarch's post, that you can simply open your image and save it with a bigger canvas size.  Nope that is not it.  If someone does not enlighten us on this, I will look into resizing the images later later or maybe even later.
