Wook in the PH for Corso

And Mayes is dealing right now.  He's hitting his spots, and has all of his pitches working.

0-2 fouled down right side

1-2 tried to climb the ladder; up

K Looking; 2 outs

Guerrini

2-1 fouled back and right into Cantu's knees.  He is up walking it off.

2-2 fouled into the mezzanine left side

3-2 dirt

F9 by Shaw on a full gallop.

1-2-3 again for the Horns

Tied at 6 going B8

Cantu is doing a great job, but I expected it when he signed. He comes from a high school program with great baseball tradition.
He is going to be a very special player here before it's all said and done.  He has almost all of the tools.

B8; Mayes' 9 Ks today is a season high for Texas Ps.

Vance is still in the game.  He's sitting on 113 pitches

Boswell

1-0 away

1-1 fouled back left

1-2 fouled down right

KS on a check swing.

1 out

That'll be it for Vance.  RHP Ennis coming in from the LF pen

B8 (cont) 1 out; nobody on; New P for WVU is RHP Ennis, 6'2" FR from West Virginia.

New pitcher is Shane Ennis, a freshman RHP. He goes 6'2", 200 pounds and is from Romney, WV.

He prefers Starburst over Skittles.

B8 (cont) 1 out; nobody on; New P for WVU is RHP Ennis, 6'2" FR from West Virginia.

Macalla in to PH for Stell

1-0 up

1-1 take

1-2 fouled away left side

2-2 in; gets away from the C

F4; 2 outs

Gurwitz

1-0 away

1-1 fouled away right side

2-1 low/away

F6 off the handle

1-2-3 for WVU

After 8 in the books, game tied at 6

Can't say enough about the job that Connor Mayes has done. He is the reason Texas is going to win.

The man on 2nd should have been called out on strikes but the home ump missed it. The play at 2nd yes he missed the tag but it looks like he went out of the base path to avoid the tag which is an out. However, my opinion doesn't count.

Edit note: That replay shows he may have tagged him!

Huth

6-3; 1 out

Munden

0-1

0-2 foul

1-2

1-2 fouled down 3B line

2-2 up/in

3-2 JUST missed in

Walk

Fox

1-0 and that was a strike down the pipe that Blue must've been snoozing

1-1; runner goes; Cantu fires it to Marlow and he tags his leg, Blue says he's safe.

Augie goes out to discuss and gets ejected.  I think he called Blue a C**KSucker, and rightly so.

Runner also, as Moreland & Swindell are discussing, is that the runner went out of the baseline.  He was in CF on the green.

That was a horrible call if I've ever seen one folks.

HBP; but Blue says he leaned into it.  And now WVU Coach Mazey is discussing, but he doesn't get tossed.

So, we're now at 2-1

3-1 up/away, and Cantu out to visit.

Trainer to the bump as Mayes is cramping up

Mayes gets a few warmup pitches to work out the cramp.

3-2 looks, and Fox throws his bat thinking walk, but he's called back

3-2 fouled into RF territory

3-2 fouled down

KS; 2 outs

Runner takes 3B uncontested.

That's it for Mayes, helluva game for Connor.  Gets a standing O from the faithful at DFF.

inconclusive imo

T9 (cont) Runner on 3B; 2 outs; Culbreth in to P

Cramer

1-0

2-0
2-1 foul

F7

1 LOB

Horns tied at 6 going B9

Big out there for Culbreth.

I don't have a problem with the missed tag call, I still think he was out. My problem is he was out of the baseline IMO. Also, this ump behind home has a horribly inconsistent strikezone (for both teams).

Now we know why GBT hasn't been shitting on the threads the last two nights he's working the plate job tonight.
