Texas vs Stanford ***Game 4 Thread (1 PM PST)***

Glad to see we finished the game off offensively, and outscored them after the first inning walk-fest....That should give Texas some Mo going into the Big 12 conference opening series this coming weekend...

Good result on the road.

The thing that stands out for me after this weekend series is Sawyer and Clemens are improving.

Collin Shaw's 10 doubles this year is the 2nd most of any player in the country.
Yes he started out on fire, but hasn't done much lately especially in this series .....that is what I was alluding to with my comment about him finally doing something  Matt Cotcher.

WoooHoooo - Horns get a chrushing 12-4 win and even the series at 2-2.  Stanford baseball has gotten the best of the Horns in recent years, but not in this series.

Time for the Horns to parlay this into the beginning of the Big XII by blasting WVU.... do they really play D - 1baseball in the hills and hollows of West "by gawd" Virgnia?

Worster, I took a look back at our series' with Stanford since 2009:

2009 took 2/3 from them in Palo Alto.

2010 & 2011 we hosted them in Austin taking 5/6

2012 & 2013 we went 0/6 in Palo Alto.

2014 we hosted them in Austin, taking 2/3

2015 we split 2/4 in Palo Alto

Since 2009:

Texas is .500 vs. Stanford, winning 11 of 22 games

4/13 in Palo Alto

7/9 in Austin

You're correct that we have struggled but mainly in PA in '12 & '13, and they tend to struggle in Austin.  Home field advantage?

Now that is what we need. Hitting in clutch situations, or to curb momentum. Johnson !!!!! Finally Shaw does something with the stick !!!!

So he went 4/18 this weekend, with 4 RBIs, another double to add to his total, (11,) and 6 Ks.  (Would have been 5/18 with another RBI if Blue on 1B could actually see when Shaw beat out the throw in T1 today)  He's only registered 4 games without at least one hit.

He is tied for first on the team in RBIs, 3rd on the team in both AVG and SLG%, and 4th in OBP (counting players with at least 4 or more starts)

His season avg is .308, and he's putting the ball in play often.

I'll take a kid that is hacking away up there, trying to make contact, putting the ball in play, and sitting on a .300+ AVG

I get that you want to bitch about stuff, and that's fine by me, but perhaps choose your topics a little better.

Bitching about a player hitting .300+, leading the team in doubles and one who plays all-out in RF just makes you look extremely silly with a very limited knowledge of the game.

God help the teams you claim to umpire.

Good for Gurwitz. He was the best player in Fall ball, so a breakout has to be coming at some point.
You could not have removed the smile from his face post-game with a belt sander.  He was grinning from ear to ear.
