Texas narrows Longhorns coaching field By Kirk Bohls, Brian Davis

Patterson is being very stealth about everything.
Smokescreens galore....

The name that is never mentioned...Saban
Yup. It was mentioned though that Patterson was in charge. That tells me this info is coming from him-by design.

Fisher

Briles

Strong is a distant 3rd IMO.

If we have to go farther than those three, no one will be happy.

I should also note that while I like and trust McPhaul and others, I'm starting to come to terms that our coach won't be Saban and instead will be someone from this list.

The thing that still confuses me is according to JS and verified by the AP story we have been talking to Saban for over a year now. What else is there to talk about? He is either coming or not.
Did I miss where the AP said anything other than Saban said if he was ever to leave Alabama it would be for Texas. If they stated we have been in talks for over a year that's huge!

1. Who is this Brian Davis guy?

2. This isnt anything new. Its been taken from us, IT, and OB, repackaged, and printed.

Yes we started talking to Saban last year. Sexton and another regent spoke with him. According to the AP

Okay. So I didn't miss a story where they said we have been in talks since then. Your previous post made it seem as if they did. Thank you for the clarification.

If this eyes of texas is the EyesOfTexas, with amazing football knowledge and writing skills, we have gained another valuable new member, and btw, Eyes is no Rookie.

I just don't feel he is ready. He looked like Manny Diaz/deer in headlights on the sideline against aggy this year. I do not want a motivational speaker type coach. I want a X & O guy who brings passion and accountability. I think he is a good coach but I think he needs to go to a bigger place and have some success before I buy into him.
I agree with everything here. Plus Texas is the the same Texas as it was when they hired Mac. Where they are now I don't believe they can afford to hire an "up and comer".

IMO

Baylor’s Art Briles < Baylor will do what they need to to keep him 10% chance of being our next HC

Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher < Would be hard to get after winning (playing) MNC using UT as leverage 2% chance

Louisville’s Charlie Strong < supposedly tight with AD (is eying UF?) 25%

Vanderbilt’s James Franklin < Would be our last choice, I hope. 63%

Alabama's Nick Saban < ship has sailed;-( .1%

I'm expecting James Franklin to be our next HC.
