FYI: A non-contact bone bruise around the knee happens when the inner trabecular bone is damaged by sudden joint compression, twisting, or a hard impact against opposing joint surfaces during a movement like cutting, pivoting, or landing, without any outside blow or collision.
Trabecular bone, also called spongy or cancellous bone, is the porous, inner tissue found inside bones. It is made of a network of tiny struts and plates called trabeculae, which absorb shock, lower overall bone weight, and hold red bone marrow
