I'll be somewhat surprised if Hollingsworth starts. He started exactly one game all year. Yes, it was a spectacular start, but this isn't the time or place to test a hypothesis.

Then again, Coach Garrido loves to manage by gut feel this time of year.

Thur:  The winner of todays elimination game plays the loser of Vandy VA in elimination game.

Friday:  The winner of our elimination game plays the winner of Thur elimination game

Saturday:  The winner of Friday elimination game plays the undefeated team in tourney.  Depending on result, there may or may not be a second game for Championship.

Is this right, wrong, totally off?

Wednesday: Texas v UC-I

Thursday: Loser of Ole Miss/Tech v Loser TCU/UVA

Friday: Winner of Texas/UC-I v Vanderbilt

Friday: Winner of Thursday's game (Bracket 2) v Winner TCU/UVA

Think of it this way...the 4 teams in each bracket are playing a separate tournament in the same format as a Regional. Once a team wins that, then the Bracket 1 winner plays the Bracket 2 winner in the Finals.

once again the announcers credited the win to the ump's screwing the cardinals on a couple of calls.  it's bullshit of course, but they just can't help themselves.  damn, i wish i had the ability to adjust announcers on the fly.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Baseball great Roger Clemens spent Monday re-living some memories as he watched his son Kacy play first base for Texas at the College World Series.

Clemens pitched for the Longhorns in the CWS in 1982 and '83, winning the national title the second time. He went on to win the Cy Young Award seven times and world championships twice but never forgot his days wearing the burnt orange.

Before the CWS, Roger said, he told Kacy to appreciate the accomplishment of simply making it to Omaha.

"I told him to try to pick your head up away from the park and look at everything going on and enjoy the sights and sounds and smells of everything," he said. "And then when the lights are the brightest, try to focus on what you're doing and take that in and try to slow the game."

Rogers said he doesn't meddle in his sons' baseball endeavors. In addition to Kacy at Texas, Koby Clemens plays in an independent pro league, and Kody Clemens was a standout high school shortstop.

"I'm just Dad to them. I'm not the 'Rocket.' And that's the way I go about it," Roger said. "I give them little tips. If they come to me for detailed information, I give it to them.... Koby once was asked if his last name helps you or gives you opportunities, and Koby said absolutely not. He said, 'My play helps me get opportunities.' So it's a good answer."

a bit off. if we win Wednesday, we play Vandy Friday and if we win we'll have to beat them again Saturday.

the other 4 teams (ole miss, tech, UVA and tcu) are in their own bracket and we wouldn't see them until the championship round.

Hollingsworth will get the start tomorrow against UCI.  I'd expect Augie & Skip to let him go as long as possible.

Texas plays' Wednesday.. Win and then they play Vanderbilt on Friday, win and then they play Vanderbilt again on Saturday.. Chamipnship series starts on Monday..
