Time flies when you're having fun doesn't it? I will be doing a "Horns Up!" article in a day or two but I just wanted to take this time to go back to November and writing this article and hoping that the Longhorns could just get to the NIT. Now the Longhorns are securely in the tournament and every game now has the potential to either move the Longhorns up or down in seeding. So here is the TCU game preview but instead of previewing TCU as the team, I will preview what this game could mean for Texas.

Game Information:

Game Time: 7pm

TV: Longhorn Network

Location: Frank Erwin Center, Austin, Texas.

Current Bracketology

ESPN: 6th Seed versus Southern Miss.

CBS Sports: 5 seed versus Missouri or Dayton.

What can be gained with a win?

Not much in NCAA seedings but could have a huge factor in Big 12 tournament seedings. Currently the Longhorns are tied for 2nd in the Big 12 with Oklahoma. OU would have the tiebreaker because of the season sweep of the Longhorns but the Sooners end the season with West Virginia and at TCU. If the Sooners lose tonight and the Longhorns win out, they would get the 2 seed in the Big 12 tournament which would be huge because they would face a team who played on the previous day.

What can be lost in a loss?

A bad loss is a bad loss. The Longhorns are in the tournament but seeding matters. If you get an 8 seed, IF you even win the game, you have to play the top seed of the tournament. The goal for this team should be to get to the Sweet 16. Everything after that is gravy. Now that might be expecting too much but at the same time, the Longhorns set those expectations for Texas fans to strive for. You lose to TCU, the wheels can start to come off and then like Rick Barnes teams in the past have done, they collapse. The Longhorns can't afford that.

Enjoy the game everyone!

The Horns are 15-2 at home this season with losses to Michigan State and Oklahoma. Texas squeaked out a 59-54 win over TCU at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum last month and I expect the Longhorns to open it up tonight in the last home game of the season. A win over the Horned Frogs tonight coupled with a win in Lubbock on Saturday would be nice momentum heading into the Big 12 Tourney next week.
