****Texas Baseball vs TCU Official Weekend Game Thread****

I'll try to get some play by play rolling here since I can now sit down and watch.  I'll try to pull out the W from the bullpen!

I'm picking up in the bottom 3rd, and TCU is going off!

I picked it up at TCU 1-0, man on first with 0 outs

Runner steals 2nd with a great slide, man on 2nd

Batter walks on a full count, men on 1st and 2nd, 0 outs

Wade: RIPS a shot past Hamilton at SS, CF (Todd) throws it in, but way off line and cutoff man couldn't handle it, allows man from 2nd to score.  Runners advance on the throw.  E8.  TCU 2-0, 0 outs, 2nd and 3rd

Batter: Flairs it to center for a single, both runs score.  TCU 4-0, 0 out, man on 1st

Big boy Baker: Hammers a double down LF line, runners on 2nd and 3rd

Skoug (homered earlier): easy 4-3 for the RBI groundout.  TCU 5-0, 1 out, man on 3rd

Batter: RBI single through the right side.  TCU 6-0, 1 out, man on 1st.  Kingham is done for the day.

Really odd to see that the reason we are down, (and that we lost last night,) was on the pitching staff. Very out of character for this year's team.
I would also add the defense looks like shit.

And just to pile on I don't think we have a base hit yet.

Horns give up 8 runs in B3

TCU up 8-0 thru 3 complete.

Important how the team responds here

FR Blair Henley on the mound

TCU 6-0, 1 out, man on 1st

WP moves runner over to second.  On the full count, Henley walks him on a pitch up and away.  Runners on 1st and 2nd

Barzili: Smacks a ground to Hamilton at SS, and it takes a WICKED high hop.  E6 (8th error of the season for Hamilton).  Bases loaded with 1 out

Merrill: lines the first pitch over SS head into LF.  2 run double.  2nd hit this inning for Merrill.  TCU 8-0, 1 out, runners on 2nd and 3rd

Watson: Walks on 4 straight.  Bases juiced for the top of the order.

Wade: lines a softie to Hamilton at SS who catches it and gets the runner at 2nd trying to get back.  6-4 DP.  53rd DP of the season for Texas defense, and the 3rd inning is mercifully in the books.

TCU 8-0

Leadoff singly by Kacy in T2.  So don't pile on too much.  ;)

Top 4th

Kody: draws a leadoff full count walk.  Man on 1st

and now these announcers are talking about Speedos, why or why not it's called a "pair' of speedos (discussing TCU Baker former water polo career, yes seriously) and why it's called a "pair" of jeans.  Why? Just why?

Jones: F4 for 1st out.

Kacy  B)  : Works a 5 pitch walk.  Clemens bros on 1st and 2nd.   Manager out to calm his pitcher down after 2 walks this inning.

Why not just empty the bench and see if there's anyone worth bringing back next year.
You do realize that this same lineup put up 10 runs and 17 hits last night, right?

Top 4, Clemens on 1st and 2nd, 1 out

Mathis: DEEP F9 to the warning track that just missed, but alas, it did.  2 out, Kacy tags from 2nd.  Clemens on 1st and 3rd

Gurwitz: Ends the inning with a 4-3.

2 LOB

TCU 8-0

Bry-Man coming to the table in a relief role, locating very well so far.  ;)

Great job on keeping us updated, guys.

I must've missed it, but can someone tell me why Pierce decided to switch Kingham and Cooper's spots in the rotation with 2 weekend series left? Not saying that that's why the guys had a couple of bad games, but it's out of the norm.

Bottom 4th

Henley still on the mound.  Cooper and Kingham entered the series 1st and 3rd in the conference in ERA.  Neither made it out of the 4th inning this weekend

Wanhanen: Nice piece of hitting to take it opposite field to RF, but hangs up enough for Jones to track it down.  F7

Former water polo star according to these announcers, Baker: High fly ball to shallow center, F8

Skoug (2HR last night, 1HR today, he's having himself a weekend): 4-3 for a 3up 3down inning

TCU 8-0

Not 100% certain, but I think Pierce felt that Cooper with a better record and ERA may have given Texas a better chance to get the W in Game 1.

Can't fault him for the effort, but I think it might've been better to take the usual mantra "if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it". Hindsight...

Top 5th

Boswell: short F6, 1 out

McCann: announcers now talking about their bow ties....which look good on neither one of them.  They should retire the bow ties.  Anyway, Baker tracks down the foul ball.  FO3, 2 outs

Hamilton: After falling behind 0-2, works a full count and smacks one to RF, but caught on the warning track.  F9, 3up 3down.

TCU 8-0

Really good AB by Hamilton, although he has nothing to show for it.  Can't wait for this kid to get an offseason under his belt.

Jim Schlossnagle (TCU manager): "We try to play offense offensively and that includes how we run the bases".

I like his swing. Hopefully he can work at it. His defense usually makes up for the difference on offense (aside from today's E). If he can hit around .250 next year or higher, I'll say he'll be a plus all around.
