Porter Brown, Tanner Witt and LBJ have all confirmed their return to Texas in the last few days.

rp - Several promising transfers
Will Mercer from Notre Dame was used both as a starter and reliever during his career. While used more as a starter soph and junior year his ERA was just over 4. This last season he moved to a relief role and his ERA was down to 2.77. He averaged about 2 innings an appearance so could be used in a late relief or closer role. Not an overpowering pitcher with about 1 SO per inning but he showed he can be effective in that role.

Will Rigney from Baylor has been almost exclusively a starter that last two seasons and has had an ERA just above 4. He could push for the 3rd starter/Tuesday role. He has some pretty good strike out numbers too so may be a good long relief arm too.

Oliver Santos comes from Duke after 1 season with no appearances. He was a top 50 prospect out of HS. Who knows what to expect out of the 2nd year player but obviously came out of HS as a top left handed pitcher.

Agreed. Rigney midweek guy and Mercer/Santos in relief. We shall see how the fall plays out and who actually takes the next step.

A little baseball trivia . . .

I was 6'6 as a college pitcher. I had a 9-1 record and led my team into the college World Series my senior season.

I had 14 strike outs in one game in the series, and then struck out 15 in 8.1 innings in the next.

I was 19-4 in my collegiate career with 229 strike outs in 169 innings.

I was drafted 4th overall in the draft, but never pitched a single game in MLB. I did, however, rack of 3110 hits, 465 homers, and 1833 RBI.

Who am I?

465 gives it away...  I know, but will leave for the board to play

Didn't know that but very interesting.

Who is the best two way player in college history?

Dave Winfield, shown in what was the ugliest uniform in all of baseball at the time. I was amazed at the pitching stats he had and then to never throw a MLB pitch. Wow.

Another portal piece. Not a great hitter for avg. Has some good power with 10 and 13 Hrs the last 2 seasons. 2 years of eligiblity left. Has played 1st, 2nd and OF in college and was a HS SS. Also a switch hitter.

He may not be fantastic in any particular facet but a bit of a swiss army knife that can play a lot of positions, DH, switch hit.

Build depth. Injuries and underperformance happens all the time. Need more than 9 good hitters.

Travis Sykora officially signed for $2.6 million. The equivalent of pick 31 slot value.
