Texas and Tony Brown

He can't back out once he attends classes can he?
If he signs a letter of intent, accepts scholarship assistance to pay for his room and board or participates in football related activities, he can't.

He loves the school and location.
He didn't like the uncertainty surrounding the program and, to lesser degree, the track program. Both have taken care of themselves over the past 6 months. Of course, the uncertainty just ended at the time he was about to report to Bama. The odd thing is Mack had finally sold him on the fact he was going to stick around.

As much as we love our schools, when you are in his position it is a business decision and he must approach that way.
Hard to say "no" to the D League of football.

Although rare, players have left in these circumstances. I'm just saying, Strong should stay in touch.

February is the deadline without sitting out a year, I believe... Even for early enrollees.

If Strong is a good recruiter, I still expect 1 or 2 from that list.

Strong has shown he is a good recruiter, and good evaluate of talent.

His list just may not match yours.

Doesn't take much evaluation with the names on that list. i agree evals are very important, but there's always recruits anyone would take. That's not to say they're slam dunks to greatness, but they're slam dunk offers.

...mr. cosell, i for one appreciate your passion as per wanting tony brown to rethink his commitment as per texas. however, i grew up in beaumont, tx. and when i viewed tony brown taking that white elephant out of that bag upon national television, and then stating "roll tide roll" i literally felt sick to my stomach. one of my sister's, was once a teacher at the same school (beaumont, ozen) that brown is now departing. and i can only imagine just how she is feeling.

this is the very reason that i can very often "salute" a recruit such as "jerrod heard". this particular form of recruit, grows up dreaming of the school that he wants to further his gridiron education upon.... and through his will and determination, he achieves his dream. he does not go through his recruitment period becoming a bona fide prima dona. (roll tony roll!)

I have the same feeling about every recruit we offer that decides to go out of state.

Best of luck to them. I hope it is everything they wish for. But I will not root for them. I won't necessarily root against them, but I laugh to myself when it falls apart as a result. Bomar, How did that work out for you? You and your lineage are now a verb. Peterson, you went to OU because Texas couldn't win a championship huh? Hope you liked the ass whippings we gave you, and by the way, has J. Charles allowed you to touch his NC ring yet? Where is yours? The list is long and distinguished outside of the QB position.

I wish Tony had tapped the brakes. I was born in Beaumont. But if he never sniffs the field or Bama continues to be Auburns bitch, I'll chuckle.

Haven't his parents been very vocal about them wanting him to be at Alabama? Love to see it but he's gone. Whitley will be a hard get too

It's my understanding that he's filed the paperwork for early enrollment with Texas (also, LSU & aggy) so he could make the switch without losing any class time to speak of. If he's in Tuskaloosa, then it's probably a done deal.

Ironic tho, Saban probably not there for 4 more years. Texas now looks like the more stable situation.
