Texas a 6-6 team?

I was listening to a radio show today in Austin who had a national "analyst" on(SEC homer) who couldn't take the blinders off long enough to actually give a credible interview at times. He actually told the hosts of the show that Texas could very well go 6-6 this year.

Listen, I am by no means a Longhorn homer, but the only way Texas goes 6-6 this year is if Manny Diaz is kidnapped along with his whole defense. I see Texas looking at 8 to 9 wins this year. The pressure is on Harsin/Applewhite along with Ash. As Ash goes this team goes, but I truly believe Ash is going to have a breakout season and put to bed any QB worries or controversies. Btw, while I was out, did Case McCoy transfer? Ha!!! I kid because I love...but no seriously, did he.

Case is still around and Mack has not come out and named Ash as the starter yet so expect to see him in the mix. I think the 8-9 win range is about where folks expect them to end up (sans the homers who think Texas wins 10+ games this year). But if we can get up for the West Virginia game and win it we will be riding high the following week at the Cotton Bowl against OU. The WVU game is a pivot game that will dictate the rest of the season.

Clay Travis is an SEC guy, but he's pretty knowledgeable. I dont believe he thinks Texas will go 6-6, just saying they could.

There is no possible way we go 6-6 this season. If we do then all kids of crap will brew in Austin. Frankly we must at least match last year's win total or things are not heading in the right direction. With this ferocious defense alone we should be at 8 wins. Let the running backs beat everyone.

Just the mere statement that he thinks they could go 6-6 is a serious credibility flaw on him. If its even a discussion point in his brain then he isn't being an objective college football analyst. This Texas team is far to talented, although young in spots, to even approach a 6-6 season. A massive injury situation would have to occur in order for that to happen.

I just feel he let his SEC bias cloud his actual judgement.

I see at least 11-2 year. Anything less will be considered a huge disappointment.

Let's go ahead and talk wins/losses then. I need some projections by game.

That guy is an idiot. I'm not overly positive and I'm calling for eight wins. Oklahoma, Kansas State, WVU, TCU and Oklahoma State could go either way. I'm higher on WVU than most but it's still a 50/50 game against Texas.

I'm with Sledge - I think the WVU game is not as terrifying as others make it seem. The Mountaineers will get their points against us but if we can force a turnover or two we will be in good shape.

Clay HATES Texas. He loves to beat the "Texas is afraid to come to the SEC" drum. With that being said, sadly, our QB play is going to suck again this season. Ash is not the answer. I hope we can squeak out 8 wins.

Looks like the qb carousel will continue. I wish to God Overstreet would make this easy and outplay both of them.

Sorry, been working on my new story for the site. Little more in depth research for this one.

I agree with Sledge, the guy is an idiot who doesn't know what he is talking about.

Yoda, I disagree, the QB position will not be a mess this year. Ash will be light years better than last year.

I have zero fear in the WVU game. They play no defense and when they face a real defense, unlike Clemson or anyone in the Big Least, they will not fair nearly as well.

It's not like VY was a huge passer his freshman year. If Overstreet can make plays and be very effective in trick and wildcat formations, we could add another weapon to our offense.

Slicing my own neck here but Texas goes 8-4 this year. I think they lose to Oklahoma State as loss #1. I also think we lose to West Virginia, Kansas State.

Master,

I assume you also see us losing to OU. If we lose all three games in a row to OU, WVU and Oklahoma State. Then we are in trouble and I don't think anyone will take us seriously for the rest of the year or in 2013.

Looks like the qb carousel will continue. I wish to God Overstreet would make this easy and outplay both of them.
I am 100% with you on this one. I think Overstreet is the QB that all of the optimists are thinking/wishing that Ash will be this season. I hope I am wrong because the only way Jalen gets meaningful snaps is if we go in the s**t-tank during the 3 game stretch of Okie St/WVU/OU.
