Strong wants to bring his entire staff to Texas

CardinalSports.com's Howie Lindsay confirms that Louisville AD Tom Jurich is flying back to Louisville from Colorado at this hour. Also mentioned that one of the hangups in last year's Strong-to-Tennessee deal is that the Vols balked on Hurtt joining the staff and giving him full control of staff.

Godf******** dammit!

This is why texas can't be successful. Bmd aren't football people. Stick to giving money and let people who know football do their jobs. This is a shame.

Very inauspicious start for an AD making $1.5M a year.

Shaunsters, how could he have cobbled together a better option with the BMDs being fractured?

Read: This is why we cannot have nice things.

The process seems just like the process that got us Mack in the first place. Compromise hire that nobody was really high on.

Wow. Looks like Patterson or that vetting firm should have Googled "Strong to Tennessee"...

Oh well. Was C .Strong anybody's first choice anyways? Maybe there is still hope for a good hire.

THIS.

What vetting did they do? Hey he doesn't have a criminal record or suspended drivers' license. Woohoo.

Wonder if there was a real interview.

If this is indeed a smokescreen all along, it may have been the greatest misdirection since the fumblerooski.

wow......has that ever been done before?
Not that I am aware of.

This is just another in a long line of BS rumors posted on the Internet that will proven to be false.

Nowhere in that quote did it say Strong demanded to bring his entire staff to TN. Also shouldn't HC's have control over who they hire? It is their necks on the line after all.

PDX- that is not the quote this came from. Check Ketchum's pinned updates. It says he wants to bring his entire staff.

BMD's should stick to what they know as should most of us on this site… Just because they have money to donate doesn't mean they know anything about hiring a football coach… or Football for that matter. While we all may have played football- i doubt that more than 1% of us are truly qualified to question a coaching hire , play call or anything remotely related to playing football. Would we have all been so high on Saban if this was pre LSU/Bama today?

Surprising to me as well as with a blank check I would think you want to try and assemble the best. This said I'm a big believer in empowerment and accountability. I wouldn't accept a job if I wasn't able to hire who I want to. Hurtt being the exception due to sanctions, CS should be able to hire whoever he thinks will help him win the most games. If he fails then it's on him. This is how it should be. We're all big boys here.

I guess I am confused....like other posters I was under the assumption that Strong presented to Patterson a list of all the great asst. coaches and oc/dc he had lined up to bring over.....now I am hearing he wants to only bring every one of his staff which is not the way it was presented..I bet Oklahoma, KS, Baylor, UCLA in 2014, TCU, Okla. St, are licking their chops......If he ever becomes the UT coach...I can not believe as reported that Patterson turned down Saban,
