With most of us expecting that a Coaching change will be made at least when the season ends, do you think with the talent we now have on this team that the next Head Coach will be expected to win quickly . What exactly would be your expectations with a whole new Coaching Staff for next season. I know with any change there could be some players who decide to play elsewhere but still I do think Charlie has improved our talent level and I would at least hope for a 7 to 8 game wins and maybe a bowl apperance. Might be to optimistic but I do think we have a lot talent on this team.

If he doesn't win at least three before hitting the city limits, I'll be disappointed. lol
If we could replay this season so far with moderately competent defensive teaching and game planning, what would our record be? Undefeated or 6-1 at the worst. Add to that all the young guys who will be better than the guys they replace (RT, DT, S for sure) and yes we should win next year.

Yes. Despite expectations being lowered with our current situation, a winning season (at the very least) should be the minimum.

Next year's head coach might want to take to a look at West Virginia's DC.
Held Texas Tech to 379 yards total offense and TCU to 300 yards total offense.

I hear you brother. After what we have gone through the last 7 years I would be happy if the next coach could win at all....Hell...I can solve the blocked xtra points....all you have to do is talk to the officials before the game and say...Hey!..make sure those guys dont bullrush th center while unprotected. THAT is what pisses me off about this staff...They dont seem to even know that is not allowed.

If you think about it most programs seem to go through at least two coaching hires before they get one that stays long term after a long term coach leaves. Thank about we fired Akers then went to McWilliams then to Mackovic then we hired Mack. Alabama after Stalling did how many Coaches before they got Saban, same with USC after Carroll and Michigan ...

Year 1 - See steady improvement and by year's end have expectations heightened for what is in store next year.
Year 2 - Contend
Most of the time, good coaches don't need 4 years. I get the rhetoric.... "they need four years to have their own players, etc.. etc.... etc..." But usually it is not necessary. How much time did Harbaugh need to turn that around? And his system could not have been any more different than his predecessor. Heck, how long did it take Mack Brown to turn things around here?

If a new coach walks in, he will have everything in place to win 8 or more in his first year. The main problem for a new coach will be the current recruiting class!
When Mack was fired, their were 21 commits for Strong to work, a new coach will walk in with a nice roster and then take a hit with his 2017 class in all likely hood.

Not sure what was left in the cupboard at Virginia Tech when Beamer retired, but their first year coach appears to be putting together a decent season in Blacksburg. Not sure about the quality of their opponents, but he is 6-2 after winning tonight. With that said, let's look at our opposition...not that great IMO. if anyone was questioning the quality of V Techs wins vs our schedule.
