Chuck Carlton: Update on Baylor QB Seth Russell: X-rays and a CT scan revealed a fracture in one of the bones of his neck. Will see a specialist next week.

Not good news for Baylor. Prayers for the young man.

Definitely not what you want for any student athlete, regardless of team affiliation.  Wishing Seth a speedy recovery.
Exactly.  Would not wish injury on any athlete.  This really is a tough blow for the young man.

Didn't see their game. How did it happen? Was it a clean hit?

And any further word on the severity?

Sounds horrible but certain portions of the vertebrae can crack without it meaning anything really dangerous. Here's hoping for a full recovery either way.

Hope the best for the young man. Hopefully Briles does not try to bring him back, unless the real doctors say he is good to go.

Officially out for the rest of the season. Looks like it is all going to ride on Stidham's arm/feet from here on out.

I feel real bad for the kid, i thought he had the potential to become an incredible college qb. I hope he gets another chance to play at a high level.

On a side note, who all thinks this opens the door a little for Baylor to lose to TCU?

Me.

It may be a bit sooner. I think some of the defenses will definitely throw some exotic blitzes at him but Stidham has been pretty good so far, albeit in mop up duty.

baylor is about to hit the hardest part of their schedule.  no more smu, rice, lamar.  the good thing is that we have 4 games to watch to see any weaknesses.  we'll have plenty of video to look over.

Stidham has the potential to step in and keep Baylor afloat. But TCU looks like a loss now. And this most certainly makes the Texas game interesting. All of the attention on Stidham could get interesting when considering all of the tumors surrounding his recruitment.

Sincerely hope that Russell recovers quickly and efficiently.
