Beat me to it. I was going to ask if the SEC has turned into the Big 12 with that conceited statement.

Sankey says conversations about SEC breaking away from the NCAA are real.

He adds that he does not believe it's leverage as much as it's honest communication.

Sankey says they had an "unsatisfactory" conversation with the CFP in Destin in terms of SOS and the 9-game SEC schedule.

It's hard for me to imagine the SEC breaking away.

Assuming the SEC and the B1G are working together, then that's most of the money and fan interest. My guess is the other conferences will eventually agree to any somewhat reasonable proposal put forth by the SEC/B1G.

The SEC and B1G aren't as closely knit on things as one might think. SEC brass does not want a 24-team playoff. All the other conferences are pushing it. SEC thinks this will push the schedule too deep in the year, minimize the conference games, and hurt the student part of student-athlete too much. I tend to agree with this.

IMO, these "leave the NCAA" statements are sort of aimed at the B1G. More or less get your head out of your ass and be against the 24 team field idea.

Everything that has happened with the CFP in the past three years has been really rushed, IMO. Not enough thought going into it. Can't let greed ruin college football.
