Sark gone???

I agree that it shouldn't be this hard for an offensive guru to have a productive offense. It's frustrating to see lesser teams (i.e. Florida, Miss St.) score on our defense. I'm afraid that Sark isn't all that great at adapting the offense to the skillset of the team. If our OL is not good at pass pro, why not add quicker hitting plays? It felt like it took 1 or 2 games too long to adjust and hit the screen or hitch passes.

At the same time, I have no idea who we would want to replace Sark. One thing for sure is the discipline on this team is so lackluster, it is probably bleeding into all phases of the game whether it be costly penalties or blown assignments.

If Sark does indeed leave, who would be your (realistic) top candidates to replace him?
Needs to hit portal for OL help badly.

Wrong. Hopefully Sark gets it together. This is not the University of Sark.

Nobody said it was the U of Sark. Do you read?

Sark made it clear what his intentions were not. Thats all I was saying. Nothing about Sark taking over our university. SMH.

I think Sark trusted his coaches too much this off season. They inflated the skill level of their respective rooms and Sark bought into it. I expect some heads to roll after the season....but I think Sark will still be here. An older wiser Sark....and we all will be the better for it.

My super-sophisticated analysis says that the following will be needs from the portal... I'm talking about probable starter needs:

2 OL
1 DB
1 RB

This is assuming that Moore comes back at WR. Of course, portal attrition would necessitate more pickups. I'm sure they will pick up depth pieces too (see QB this past year).

Sark’s staff is fine, you’re going to have up and down years, if 9-3 is a down year, the up years are going to be gang busters
9-3 as a down year is a great commentary on the state of our program.

I was guilty of drinking the hype-aid served up by the likes of OnTexas-Football. I'm not criticizing that show - I rather enjoy it. But they had me believing that losing 4 OL - two as high draft picks was no biggie because of all the great talent coming in. I even was educated to believe that we would be a better run-blocking team this year.

This team was billed as the #1 team in the nation preseason - with a Heisman favorite at QB (with two starts under his belt). Looking back on it, it was ridiculous. But this burnt-orange hype served to make 9-3 (assuming we beat gigaggy) a colossal disappointment.

The biggest needs are probably at DT and Linebacker IMO

How many DTs do we lose? Brevard andn Shaw are the only ones that I know of. Kanu has another year. Kanu is becoming very good.
Watson, January, Kanu are a good start! The two freshman are highly thought of as well...

I didn't include DTs in my post because it was about what I thought we needed in the way of starters from the portal.

Perhaps for depth you are correct? But my list was what I think we need as starters. Smith, Lafeau and Barnes are all starter material. As are Watson, January and Kanu at DT.

Assuming Barnes is game ready, we need a LB that has in game experience that is not only physically capable but is mentally ready. We saw how much our back up defense struggled against Arkansas late in the game Saturday, you always need depth at linebacker, they endure the most punishment on defense
