**Running College Football Updates Thread**

Sadly there is only a handful of players you can put out there. Earl and Moon. Pastorini, Billy "White Shoes" Johnson and Matthews.

McNair and George don't count.

Loved the Oilers.  My Uncle worked for them.  We knew about Earl going to Houston about two weeks before it was made public.

Can’t forget the song “We’re the Oilers, Houston Oilers, Houston Oilers number one!”

The best pro game I ever went to was a Monday night football game in the Dome.  The Houston Chronicle gave out “Luv ya blue.” cards and I remember the live announcer telling all of us that we were going to go back to live TV in 3,2,1 and then the whole stadium turned blue with everyone holding up the cards and the stadium speakers blasted “We’re the Oilers…”. That placed rocked. I was a still in college at the time but remember it like it was yesterday. Getting ready to turn 65.

Bum Phillips with his cowboy hat and Earl’s first TV commercial as a pro   “ Skoal bro”.

Damn, those were some good times   It was all about football   No politics.

I can't believe I'm that much older than you guys. The first player that comes to mind is George Blanda.  Followed by Billy Cannon, Charlie Tolar and Ernie Ladd (the original Too Tall). He was 6' 9".

You guys have brought back a lot of memories, those were the days when I was into pro ball.

Shame it changed so much and not for the better.

George Blanda was QB of the Oilers' 1st two AFL championships. Blanda won AFL Player of the Year honors in 1961.

He was AFL passing leader in 1961 and 1963. His 36 touchdown passes in 1961 were the most ever thrown by any NFL/AFL quarterback in a single season, until matched by Y. A. Tittle of the NFL New York Giants (former Texan from Marshall, Texas) two years later in 1963.

Blanda is the oldest player to play in an NFL game: 48 years, 109 days.

Before joining the Oilers, Halas had him praying some at linebacker for the Chicago Bears in addition to backup QB and place kicker.

Blanda currently holds the record for most extra points made (943) and attempted (959).

Later in his career he was heroic in how he either kick winning field goals for Oakland Raiders in last monents of the game and/or relieve Daryle Lamonica as QB to rally team by thowing touchdowns and kicking winning field goals.

Blanda was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1981.

Y’all have probably seen this, but Harbaugh has been suspended/banned for 4 games for recruiting violations during 2019.

Also, LaBron James’ son suffered cardiac arrest during preseason workouts at USC.

Texas has been doing echo cardio’s and stress EKG’s for many years on incoming athletes. I thought they were required now.  Shouldn’t that show any anomaly?

Will not necessarily show electrical conduction defects in the heart. These can sometimes lead to deadly arrhythmias.
